After our first day's walking we needed a comfortable bed, a hot bath and a good meal and we got all three here. A lovely atmosphere in the evening for tired walkers, breakfast was substantial but the lady on duty in the morning was very rushed and seemed to be the only person working.

Really nice community run pub very friendly and welcoming - bedrooms are very good,clean and very comfortable and the food was spot on with great choice for a walking holiday -Excellent base for Ennerdale -well done all

have visited a couple of times now as stay in village with friends. the atmosphere is very welcoming and even though we are not locals, we are always made to feel as if we are! Have only eaten here once but the food is very good. Well worth a visit.

Have eaten here on a few occasions.Each time the food has been excellent the staff warm and welcoming. Great value food and really good variety on the menu. Rooms can also be booked ,handy if you are on a walking holiday.

This pub is full of character and the food is amazing, the owner is very friendly and came over for a chat. Don't normally have a dessert but had to indulge because they looked so good and I wasn't. Left very full but very content. Wouldn't hesitate to go back when we go back to the Lake District

I visisted the Fox & Hounds very recently for a family celebration! And I can honestly say the food was excellent, couldnt fault it. The pub was very empty at the time & its seemed sucjh a shame. Worth a try & deffo will be back.
