Great campsite by UK standards - was very busy over bank holiday weekend, but all the same we had no issues with waiting for sinks, showers etc. The 6-meters between tents rule didn't completely apply over the busy period, but it was nice to see that they had actually closed the site to all but campers who had pre-booked so... We stayed here for two nights over May bank holiday and I have to say this place does exactly what it says on the tin. This is not the sort of campsite you go to for heavy beer drinking sessions and late night BBQs. They have a 6 metre between tents rule which means not only do you get your... More

Arrived on a bitterly cold day in October 2012. Nobody to pay etc so left a note... Pitched tent and climbed Scafell Pike - snow and ice on the tops. Spoke with site manager and paid for pitch - pretty expensive considering just camping. Enjoyed a beer and meal in a local pub and settled in for the night. After... More

Good facilities which we found to be clean at all times. Helpful but not intrusive staff. A wonderful location. We went at a quiet time of year but there is plenty of space for camping even in busier times I would reckon. The pub is a reasonably convenient walk away.

Stayed in a POD on this remote Campsite in September 2012. We are not campers, but found the site immaculate, the staff friendly and helpful and the whole area a delight to visit. The POD was clean, warm and cosy, and peaceful apart from the gentle patter of rain. Tucked away in the trees, the PODs have an overhang just... More

Stayed in may as husband a trail run nearby. The campsite is beautiful on the waters edge. Only negative was the pitch we had been given was up on a cliff overlooking the site. Views were fab but I was knackered karting the outwell tent up the cliff face!! Kept me fit though.great place for small tents but biggies stay... More

We're very glad to hear HayleyR had an enjoyable stay with us but having checked with her, the above review relates to our campsite at Low Wray. Wasdale campsite is very close to Wastwater but we do not actually have any lakeshore pitches there as we do at Low Wray. Car parking at all our sites is provided in specific... More

We stayed when Cumbria was completely flooded, and apart from a few small areas, the rest of the campsite was perfectly accessible. A lovely campsite, nice and quiet, if a little remote, you definitely need some form of transport to get there. The staff are helpful and there is a handy shop. They are very strict on groups of only... More

We stayed in dismal weather, but still enjoyed the camping. Excellent design of campsite means cars kept out of sight, and off the grass, so not spoiling the view. The toilet block is also surrounded by planting so blends with the scenery. Beautiful native trees and shrubs ensure lots of birdlife. Handy shop for milk and basics. 15 minutes walk... More

A rare couple of days on my own and I fancied Wasdale Head - but I picked the height of the "Three Peaks" season and the weekend of the Saunders Mountain Marathon. What the heck, I thought and went anyway. The head of the dale was choked with cars, minibuses and a field crammed with tents but a mile away... More

Spectacular approach up the lake road led to an incomparable setting by the shore, at the foot of the best mountains in Britain. Staff very helpful, pleasant and efficient. Useful shop selling local produce and all we needed. Weather OK, especially at beginning of the week. Flat, grassy, spacious pitches. Regulations sensible which ensure peace and comfort even at half... More
