we stayed for 1 night a last minute booking and paid 150.00. The room was gorgeous but was extremely hot as situated above the kitchen and only had 1 small window which let no air in. The view from our room was the staff carpark and shed so staff constantly walking past looking in window. Food in the restaurant was... More

We stayed 2 nights on a KGB deal costing £119 B+B. I think we must have been given the worst room because we were only paying the special offer price, but it isn't an offer if you always get the worst rooms! The room was very dark with a small low window that opened onto a pavement by the back... More

Thank you for your review. Yes Room 7 is a standard room on the far side of our 17th century building, and the 3ft thick walls dictate its layout. Some people enjoy room 7, others do not, like all of our rooms it comes down to personal preference and we do have other rooms and superior rooms which are much... More

Recently stayed at this inn on a KGB deal. We were wowed over as soon as we entered the building. The log fires and cosy atmosphere were very inviting. Our room was lovely and decorated to a very high standard. Unfortunately my partner didnt sleep well and the next morning asked if we could swap rooms. This was no problem... More

We were recommended to the Queen's Head as a really good country pub for dinner whilst we stayed in Windermere. Positives: A very "authentic" historic country pub feel when you walk in; open fires, friendly service; good food in generous portions that felt home made and had originality to it (no microwaved lasagne here); good value set menu; beautiful setting.... Thank you for your review, we are glad your liked our 17th century coaching inn. Regarding the kitchen noise, we completely refurbished the kitchen only 2 years ago, with equipment from Italy. A part has cracked and there is nothing we could do unless we closed the Hotel and waited for the part, which naturally comes from Italy. I assure... More

I think once the management figure out what they're trying to achieve with the place it would definitely be worth a return visit, but at the moment we're in no hurry. We booked for a romantic break over the Easter weekend, paying £300 for our room for two nights. The room was superb, quite beautiful in fact, with a lovely... More

Prior to our previous response we would like to apologise for the error regarding the bill. All that was to be said was that £300 out of your total expenditure was accommodation, and whatever else you spent in the bar as well was only a small proportion of the weekend. More

This is a lovely cosy hotel perfect for a romantic break, its gorgeous inside theres nice open fires here and lots of nooks and crannys to sit in. The food is a lot better than your average pub food, although slightly more expensive it was very nice and there are cheaper lunch & deal options and bar snacks. My husband... More

We have stayed at the Queens Head on a number of occasions previously, this time we took our daughter, son in law and grandson for a four day stay on the 26th March. We were most fortunate with the weather, the sun cracking the flags for the whole of our stay. The 4 day deal was the best value we... More

Recently spent 4 nights on a special offer break and can honestly say it was very good value for money. Both breakfast and dinner were good, the room clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly. A lovely place to stay.

We've passed The Queen's Head countless times and have always said we would pop in for a pint as it looks so charming from outside. We finally did last Saturday after a strenuous walk over the fells. Unfortunately appearances can be deceptive and the charm of the outside was seriously lacking inside. Yes, it is lovely inside; a proper English... More

We do not feel that we are all fur coat and no knickers. Having had the Queen's Head for over 4 years the last thing I want it to be is pretentious, and we will get to the bottom of which member of staff you have mentioned. Dogs are allowed in the bar but not allowed in the restaurant areas.... More

We have wanted to call at the Queens as it came highly recommended, how disappionted where we! Very! The specials menu board is very misleading, 3 courses for £22, but they tag on the bottom of this menu some main course specials which are £22 alone! Naughty and misleading. We found the staff rude and very unhelpful. The place was... More

Thank you for your feedback, it is strange that it seems to have taken nearly a year for you to review this. I am happy to hear the it was busy and the food was good, particularly over the Easter Holidays. More
