Had a lovely stay at the Queen's Head. Room 16 was very nice with an amazing view looking onto the mountains - which looked like a painting. Staff were very helpful and friendly who let us check in early as we got there quite early. Didn't get chance to try the restaurant, but had drinks outside, overlooking the amazing view... More

At last it's spring and we just spent the weekend in the beautiful Troutbeck valley. Lots of great walking, fabulous fells to bag; at the moment there are baby lambs and daffodils everywhere. The Queen's Head was a bit of a treat, thanks to my other half for that, and we had a great night there. I loved the lillies... More

Many thanks for your lovely review. As a 17th century building there are lots of quick's and character around the building, and I'm so glad to hear you were taken in by its charm. More

We've been here before but just to eat or drink and we've always wanted to stay. We went with friends on Saturday to stay for one night. The rooms were expensive and at first the hotel wouldn't do a deal but they relented on Saturday morning and reduced the price by £30 and threw in four breakfasts which was good... More

We stopped here for 1 night on a short trip to the lakes. The hotel seems popular with walkers, due to its close proximity to bowness and the beautiful local scenery. We booked via booking.com and managed to get the last room. Upon arriving I very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the rooms, tasteful decor with nice trinkets and... More

Great stay last night in the Queens Head at Troutbeck. We had a four poster room which was very comfortable and enjoyed an excellent meal with wine. The service was exceptional and I would reccommend this hotel for anyone wanting a reasonable stay in the Lakes as it is quite central. We have tried a number of Hotels and Inns... More

I have stayed at this establishment many times and have always received good service with excellent food. Unfortunately on this occasion standards had dropped. We stayed for two nights and ate in the bar area on both nights, Sunday night was embarrassing for all, the five occupied tables all complained after waiting 40 minutes for bread and olives I asked... Have visited The Queens Head many times while day tripping in the Lake District and always appreciate the excellent service and top quality food. It is hard to find anything negative to say about this place so I won't! Wonderful traditional country pub with a first class restaurant. Well worth a visit We will be visiting the area again soon... Thank you for your belated review. It is always nice to hear feedback. Dogs are more than welcome to stay at the Queens Head, we have two dog-friendly rooms - Room 12 and 14 - located in our annex, the converted barn alongside the main inn. Both of the rooms are £150 per night, room only, plus £20 per night... More

Nice room clean and comfy room number 7, We ate both nights in the bar , the food was good but nothing special, price of the drinks from the bar also took the shine off the meal. Breakfast was ok again nothing special, service was poor had to ask for toast and coffee witch was dissapointing considering the price.

We booked a night away at the Queens Head as a last minute get away, as soon as you walk through the door you sart to feel relaxed, the room was comfortable and very clean and all the staff are freindly. This unasuming country pub with restaurant is really fantastic. Have been back each time we visit the Lakes and made a point of going back for more . Cosy log fires, friendly nothing too much trouble staff. Use mostly locally sourced foods, cooking to high standards. Greta atmosphere whether winter or summer time. Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Maybe it’s the warm Lakeland welcome, or perhaps the curiously eclectic mix of ancient, Cumbrian and contemporary. It probably has a lot to do with the food (and the beer). Or perhaps its location, tucked away in the Troutbeck Valley, just 3 miles from Windermere.Whatever it is that makes The Queen’s Head Hotel in Cumbria’s lakeland such a favourite with the regulars, you need to come and experience it first hand.Rooms with fabulous four-posters and quirky walls from another century; textures and colours to relax the senses all combine to provide a welcome sanctuary, whether in the original 17th Century Coaching Inn or the beautifully transformed ancient barn opposite. Don’t go home...sleep over!Make no mistake, Troutbeck is real Lakeland. This undulating valley, riddled with a maze of footpaths linking ancient hamlets at times appears to lure you into their gardens.Occasionally, Windermere Lake comes into view a few miles down the valley, tempting you away from the swathe of fell tops above. The best advice is to keep returning to ensure you haven’t missed anything. At least this way, you can eat your way through The Queen’s Head menu and stay in another gloriously comfortable room ... more   less
