Set in stunning scenery the Three Shires at Little Langdale has been a favourite haunt for over 30 years. To celebrate my 70th birthday with all my family around this Lakeland hotel seemed to be the obvious choice. The hotel accommodated 24 of us including 8 children. The occasion was enjoyed by ALL the guests. Particularly noteworthy was the excellent... More

A short stay at the Three Shires was enough to convince me that a return is certain! It was a great place to stay - located ideally for walking both high and low in the beautiful countryside around it. I had often passed by on other trips and had determined that one day I would stay. I now realise that... More

A family orientated traditional Inn located in the convenient and stunning Langdale Valley. Top tucker from Chef Simon and excellent smiling service from all Staff, Ian,Jane and Elaine in particular. For Walkers, Bikers and Romantics of all shapes and sizes this salubrious is a 'must visit' destination.

Lovely people, great food & a fantastic location. Have stayed here many times over the years & never disappointed. Homely, always spotless & always a warm welcome. Lots of places & things to do & see on the door step makes this the perfect place for me. Also my favourite breakfast in the lakes. Don,t pass this place by.

We stopped at the Three Shires Inn half way through a walk. The pub itself was lovely and very busy. However the food was massively over-priced (£5.90) for a ham sandwich and the service was somewhat haphazard. The local ales are lovely though

I'm at the Three Shires Inn right now and everything is great! "The ladies behind the bar" are very helpful and extremely nice. All the problems are resolved, nothing is wrong with the sanitation. The food is great, the setting is beautiful and the service is wonderful. We're a family of four and we're having a great time!

We booked for three nights which incidentally was on offer at the time of booking (feb2013) , the offer being 3 nights for the price of two (£180 total) on a bed and breakfast basis. We paid a deposit of £100 in advance. Whilst the setting is beautiful, the customer service is not. While we were sitting in the bar... More

Response to review from Bob B from Doncaster who I can only assume is the same person as M. Whitaker from Stockport, who stayed with us on Monday evening! We are sorry Mr Whitaker did not complete his planned stay with us. The couple in question sat drinking in our bar for from 6.30 pm until 10.30 pm ( about... More

It must be difficult to run a small traditional inn well, but the people here seem to to have cracked what it takes. A genuine friendliness (not some simpering facade) was evident from staff thoughout our short break. The location of course is incomparible, and for our out of season break, was very tranquil. As a walking base it couldn't... More

We walked from Tilberthwaite via Hodge Close to the Three Shires in time for lunch. The day was warm and bright which accentuated the lovely, peaceful setting and there were even people sitting outside, which for late Feruary, is unusual here. There are a selection of local beers on offer and a good selection of food. We opted for smoked... More

The location could not be better, great walking from the door. The accommodation is clean, warm and welcoming. Great food, you get what you pay for, excellent quality. In the evenings, there is a comfortable lounge with an open fire. There are plenty of walking guide books to help you plan your next walk.
