Stayed here on a short hostel trip recently. A lovely, old, one-off building on the edge of Wastwater lake..The bedroom was a shared dormitory.The evening meal was poor. Wonderful location beside the lake and hostel has loads of character. Bunks and rooms maybe in need of an upgrade, but staff are exceptional. Really welcoming, very flexible and helpful and couldnt do more. Food was great too, but the location must be one of the best in the whole of the British Isles.

Just got back from the lakes and the first thing we had to do was write a quick review of this youth hostel. Excellent food from a really helpful staff with friendly attitude.Plenty of space in bedroom. Superb base to explore one of the best areas in the Lakes. Good to see improvements that have been made to a magnificent building that was deteriorating at one time. I could not fault it in any way.

Haven't stayed in a YHA for many years, but this is a lovely hostel: great location, comfortable, homely and very clean. A big thank you to the team for exceptional service under trying conditions. Would definitely recommend.

This YHA is indeed a very beautiful location and a nice place to stay just in front of the Wast Water.
