We live less than 45mins away but enjoy the countryside nearby, even though it can get busy around the area with some tourists etc. We stayed for two very nice and layed back nights here and explored the many places of interest in bakewell, chatsworth, dovedale, wetton and matlock and some pleasant trecking in the sun. Rooms are relatively basic... More

Had a lovely meal on two occasions. Great ales on tap. Menu choices are limited, although quality of food is lovely. Homemade chips are great and the food is great value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful- we will be back.

We have now been three times to this pub which is quite local for us. It is welcoming and friendly which is a nice change from some of the pretentious foodie establishments around this area. The food is consistently well cooked and served with a smile. The homemade chips are truly delicious. I'm aware that the owners are relatively new.... More

We went for a 2 night stay the Fri and Sat before Christmas. Although the new landlord and lady had only moved in the day before! They did a great job of making us and our dog feel very welcome! Food was very good and exellent value! The atomosphere in the restaurant was very friendly. We are planning to go... More

If you are wanting a small and friendly pub to stay at near the Peak District, then would definitely recommend the Okeover Arms. Great food, good beer and a very warm atmosphere was provided by the new Landlord and Lady. Stayed for two nights. The room was clean and very decent for a local pub. Plus the fry-up on each... More

Debbie made us feel really welcome when we arrived. The rooms were clean and tidy, and we slept well. The food was very good, though when requesting a lighter bite one evening, we were told that they could only offer a baguette, to be eaten in our rooms .We would also have liked wholemeal toast at breakfast but were told that... Lovely two night stay. We previously had to cancel at short notice due to family illness and Debbie and Martin very kindly let us come back at no extra charge. Beautiful views, good food, very friendly and welcoming and good location for walking. Dog friendly and our chocolate lab even had her own breakfast sausage ! Would definitely go again.

We stayed in the Okeover Arms over the Xmas period and received the friendliest and warmest welcome ever. They are located conveniently for taking shorter or longer walks in the Peak District with a public footpath starting at their door. Good food and nice local ales at a very reasonable price. Most recommended!!
