We stayed in one of the superior rooms for three nights so as to attend a wedding reception in the hotel. Our overall feeling was one of kindness and helpfulness, thank you Gemma. Our room was lovely, the bed was comfy and the space was excellent. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. Would recommend the hotel to others.

We stayed in the hotel following a wedding, and although my parents had a lovely room which i would say is four star we ended up in a family room in the courtyard and i wouldnt give it a 2 star rating. The shower was a plastic hose you had to attach to the bath taps, two star hotels have power... Hi, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I’m pleased that your parents had a pleasant stay while with us. Because our in house rooms are in keeping with the hotel and are kept to a high standard, there sometimes does seem to be a big difference between in house rooms and courtyard rooms, which do tend to... A nice old building with pleasant gardens to sit in on a sunny day. I had a courtyard room that was very big. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. The bathroom was only let down by the cheap disposable plastic tumblers. Very travelodge. I had dinner and would say the food is adequate to sustain life. The sting is... More

We have just come back from a very enjoyable break at the hotel. Staff were really helpful, courteous and attentive. Breakfast and evening meals excellent in lovely conservatory. Hotel is in a very good location for visiting the Peak District. Agree with other reviewers that a little TLC needed - our bed had seen better days and slight smell of... More

I spent 7 enjoyable nights at the hotel and had absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Everything worked, internet connection was good, breakfast was wonderful, staff friendly, price was good, location amazing and just 100 yards away from the Holly Bush Inn, probably the best pub you'll ever find in England. Strangely no place to review that pub!

Our room was spacious and clean. Staff very friendly and efficient. Breakfast excellent so much choice. Had a lovely meal in conservatory restaurant. It is an old building in a lovely setting. You have to take this into account when you book. We were a bit apprehensive when we read some of the comments, but we were pleasantly surprised and... More

Large, clean room with sitting area. Big bathroom that could do with a separate electric shower, rather than one over the bath, but you can't have everything! Staff very friendly, courteous & helpful. Superb views from the room & the conservatory at meal times, lovely grounds to wander around. I'd agree with some prior reviews that some of the facilities... More

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I'm so pleased that you had an enjoyable stay while with us. We do currently have an in-house refurbishment scheme that we are currently working through which does focus on our more tired areas and we've recently just finished one of our bar areas. I hope that we can welcome you back... More

We stayed for 2 nights. The impression the hotel portrays is that it needs some love and attention and a bit of money spent on it to bring it up to standard. It has 4 stars on the sign at reception, but in my opinion it is way off the mark. It's just very tired and dated and lacking any... More

We spent 2 nights in March 2013 and enjoyed them very much. Large room, large bathroom, elegant dining in the conservatory. The food was good and the service excellent. We even forgave them the fire alarm going off at 6am on Monday morning due to fault!
