We were pleased to have stayed at the Anchor. It serves excellent food and has a wide range of drinks and the garden "chalet" accommodation was just right for us. The hosts were attentive but unobtrusive and the staff unfailingly pleasant, helpful and easy-going whilst everything was efficient. A good location too, just right for the Suffolk coast and its... I would describe The Anchor as a gastro pub with rooms rather than an hotel. Rooms are adequate but nothing overdone. Bathroom was a bit dark, but the views from the bedroom to the sea and dunes was lovely. We were in the main building but there are chalet type rooms in the garden which looked fine when we went... I stayed at The Anchor earlier this year on my own and have been planning to return with my partner and even the teenagers (!) ever since. The room I stayed in upstairs in the main building was enormous and had a great view of the sea. I felt comfortable from the outset as a lone female traveller and nothing... More

We had a later winter/pre-season weekday break when the Anchor was perhaps about half full. With all transactions over the bar and the accommodation bill on the restaurant/bar tab this is a family-run pub-restaurant with rooms rather than a conventional full-service hotel. There are 5 rooms in the older building above the pub and 6 newer chalets in the large... More

I treated my wife to a weekend at the Anchor for her birthday, and it really was a treat. The staff were all so very friendly and helpful (and being greeted by a fellow Ipswich Town fan on arrival was the icing on the cake), the room (one of the outside cabins) was spacious and very comfortable and the location... We spent three nights here earlier in the month. The welcome was friendly and hospitable; rooms were comfortable and the food excellent. More

Have stayed here a few times now and have never had a bad nights sleep or a bad meal. We stay in the chalets at the back of the pub and they have got better everytime, it is so peacful and quiet and you can have a nice drink outside once the kids are in bed. The food is lovely,... More

Took my Investment Club for a weekend celebration. 5 couples for 2 nights and 7 couples for 1 night. We were very well looked after and the laid back no rules approach suited us perfectly. We would definitely book again and have no hesitation in recommending this venue. More
