I stayed here while walking the South Downs in May. Unfortunately I arrived an hour earlier than expected (5pm) and had to sit out in the rain for 50 mins until someone arrived to let me in. I was not advised when booking that it opened at 6! Room was clean and tidy although the radiator & TV did not... More

A quintessentially English pub location in a picturesque setting. Friendly and welcoming staff Good selection of beers - enjoyed the Sussex and Tanglefoot Good food in the dining room - particularly enjoyed the liver and bacon over bubble and squeak. Definitely worth the short detour off the main road between Winchester and Petersfield

We stayed here while walking the south downs way. East Meon is a pretty village with a river running through it. The pub is right in the centre of the village next to the green and the church. Downside was that the pub closed between 3 and 6 so if you arrived during that time you had to wait outside... More

Good staff, friendly and helpful, food really good, worth a visit, the menu is varied and always cooked to perfection. I worked round the corner and spent many an evening there, also stayed there on the odd occasion

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch at this beautiful rural pub/restaurant. The food was excellent and or a standard far exceeding what you expect to be served in a pub. It was also incredible value for the high quality meal we were served. The staff were attentive and the decor perfect.

Very impressed by this great pub. I was walking the South Downs way and stayed for a night. I thought it was great value at £55. The food was fantastic and the room very clean and cosy (what I needed after a long days walking). The staff were friendly. Great fried breakfast. I was surprised how good it all was... More

I honestly do not understand ANYone giving a bad review for the George... my boyfriend and I stayed here overnight during a weekend away in the south west that I had planned as a surprise for his birthday and it was everything I had wanted it to be for us/him - not only a beautiful old pub in a gorgeous... From check in to the time of check out I felt really welcome here. I stayed in a twin room, the room was lovely and clean with a nice old English feel to it. The bathroom was clean although I did manage to run out the hot water after a long shower! I appreciated the provided coffee, biscuits, and water.... More

I had the pleasure of staying at Ye Olde George for a few nights in September and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. ALL the staff without exception were friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were lovely, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The hearty breakfasts were great and the food in the bar/restaurant was delicious. Overall a wonderful... More

My husband and I had one night at this gorgeous pub/hotel in August, We stayed in a very large room with stripped floors a massive superking bed with a fabulous bathroom (great shower).
