Had a fab time staying here, booked at last minute as drove past on Bank Holiday Monday and then decided to go away Thursday and Friday. Lovely room, would like to stay in main house next time with the quirky rooms. Good size - we had a no dogs allowed room. The only thing I would change is the brown... More

Our first hotel stay with a 3-month old baby and staff were helpful, particularly ferrying baby bottles back and forward to the fridge. Room 19 (Victorious) was perfect as it had a single bedroom within the suite for the baby. It was also close enough to the restaurant for the baby monitor to work. Excellent breakfast and good dinner in... More

My wife arranged this lovely night away for our wedding anniversary. Bucklers Hard is a beautiful spot and the hotel sits right on the Beaulieu River. It is part of two rows of buildings which were ship builders houses and in the past ships were built in between before being launched into the river. We splashed out (forgive me) on... More

A good hotel to my mind is one where you feel at ease immediately, enjoy a location and are not fussed over by over attentive staff. The Master Builder has to have one of the locations for any hotel in the UK, fantastic scenery and a sense of history. This could so easily be ruined by making the hotel chic... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. I was really pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you appreciated the relaxed atmosphere we try to create. We look forward to seeing you back in the Autumn – I would certainly recommend booking into one of the Chic or Luxury bedrooms when you... More

The hotel is lovely, being a real piece of history. We felt very special staying here, visiting the local areas and eating in the hotels restaurant. That said, our bathroom was rather basic and the room only had one window, and that was misted as it overlooks other bedroom windows. It's not cheap and we had expected a nicer room,... More

I am really glad to hear you enjoyed the sense of history in the hotel. We do have a couple of bedrooms in the Main House which unfortunately do not have good views and as such have been allocated as Classic bedrooms. For your next visit I would recommend one of the Chic or Luxury bedrooms; these are in the... More

The Master Builder himself would be disappointed that his name has been placed on such a dull block of rooms built more in the style of every other modern hotel rather than that of the main buildings, although there's been an attempt to give a "classic" feel by fitting them out with old, but not antique, furniture. Overall the staff... More

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry that you were disappointed with the newer Classic bedrooms. I too wish all our bedrooms had the character of the original 18th century rooms in the main house; unfortunately they are hard to duplicate. I do hope you will return to The Master Builders to try one of the Luxury or Chic... More

We adored the location of this hotel, it was quite something sitting in the sunshine in the beautiful beer garden overlooking the Beaulieu River... The hotel itself is stunningly unique with a fascinating history. It reminded us of one of our most favourite hotels, the legendary Argonaut at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. However, the Master Builders was even more... More

Master Builders lacks managerial direction, hence the low standard of housekeeping, our room was unhoovered & undusted, which was done upon our request. The general maintenance of this charming building is rough around the edges, there is a lack of attention to detail. The absence of bar nibbles with our pre dinner drink was apparently due to "non delivery", totally inefficient... Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your recent stay with us at The Master Builders.  I am so sorry to hear that we have let ourselves down in a number of areas particularly that the cleanliness in your bedroom was not up to our expected standard.  The hotel has recently undergone a number of changes... I’m a big fan of this hotel’s sister site at the Bath Arms. We decided to book into the Master Builder’s because we had some business to take care of nearby and we felt like broadening our horizons and seeing what this admirable little hotel chain can deliver beyond the constraints of Longleat. There was a bit of trepidation for... More

Thank you for your review of the many positive aspects of your stay. I am so sorry to hear that you were slightly underwhelmed by the food and for the rather rude awakening of the oil delivery, it is certainly not the norm for them to deliver at that time. More

having been given a gift voucher we chose to go to the New Forest. On checking the area for hotels we came across The Master Builders and what a good choice this turned out to be.
