Having stayed near-by, not naming the other hostelry. This was clearly a step up, both in price and ambiance. Rather remote, this time I had a car at my disposal but did not find the need to venture elsewhere. Brief stay paid by employer I only needed an evening meal and somewhere to rest my head. Room was big for... More

We stayed here for two nights on TESCO voucers. We were expecting a not so good room because of this. However, we were in a room on the first floor at the front of the building, with fantastic views over the countryside. The room was clean, furniture ok and the bed very comortable. Breakfast was ok Unfortunately the toilet wouldn;t... More

We stayed here in April using KGB vouchers. Overall the stay was ok, the rooms were clean although some of them are tricky to access. The staff at the restaurant specially the Portugese girl are do friendly and couldn't do more for you. The evening meal was lovely with lots of choice and good size portions. Breakfast was also generous... More

The staff were fabulous. The hotel is an ideal retreat for a relaxing weekend. The decor is fitting with the age of the building and dinner and breakfast were excellent.

Went here for the last two nights of our honeymoon using the KGB deal. Had requested club room basket as a treat - was supposed to include fruit, magazines and Molton Brown toiletries...complained and said didn't want it. Lady was apologetic , said heating would come on in a few minutes. Two hours later after burning out the electric heater... More

Just returned from Scalford Hall, the former home of Colonel Colman (founder of Colmans Mustard) who was also a friend of King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson (who used to stay here). The hotel, which doubles as a management & training centre, is in a great location just outside Melton Mowbray and stands in beautiful extensive grounds. The room we... More

Just got back from a couple days break at this great hotel and every thing was first class, Reception. Room. Food. Care and attention by staff but not in your face and back to reception on our leaving day. The bedroom was large and with a bath as well as a shower, the bed was a little hard for me... More

We stayed here on a 2 night (voucher break) mid April. The main building and grounds were lovely (traditional). The rooms that had been added did appear rather like a rabbit warren and took a bit of time to suss out! We stayed on the ground floor with views over the well tended grounds. Our room was on the small... More

We stayed at Scalford Hall last week-end on the kgb deal. Great deal, 2 nights B & B with dinner and a bottle of wine on the first night. Dinner was lovely although if we had paid for this we felt £30 a head was quite a high price. Bedroom was nicely furnished, the only thing that let the hotel... More
