Although we did not actually stay in the hotel we had our caravan in the small and friendly caravan site in the grounds. I was after a traditional country pub with accommodation and that is what I found with the The Shepherds Rest. As already said, food is plentiful. Full English every morning (but with other smaller breakfasts and cereal / fruit) and large home cooked grub. No menu as such (that I saw anyway), but Bob will give you a heads up... More

We had seen this pub advertised, and decided to take a look. Well it was fab, we got a warm welcome, great service, food was very good, local people who eat there on regular basis were very friendly, apple crumble to die for. Will go back again. More

We ate at the Shepherd's Rest carvery today and really enjoyed it! There was a good selection of food, three meats and lots of veg. Tasted really good too. We hope to return again in the future. More

We went back to the Shepherd's Rest for the carvery today because it's the best in Alnwick. It's not a 'chain' pub, but a unique place to eat, with friendly banter from Bob. We would recommend it! More
