i have visited many village pubs in my time<<the landlord of the pack horse clearly didnt want our buisness, we found him rude, unhelpfull and extremely miserable, he clearly hates children. His welcome to the extremely quiet pub was nothing short of disgusting let alone cold. We called in to check it out with the intention of a further visit with... More

Conclusion If you want a double room do not have Room 4 (number when we where there). If you are a family of four OK to put the kids there. If you are going to a wedding avoid this room not enough space to hang or spread your finery difficult for two of you to get ready at the same... More

Wonderfull base to explore the surrounding areas of Alnwick and Seahouses. The pub itself has a good choice of beers including Black Sheep real ale. Stayed over for the night in the upper bedrooms which all have en-suite and are very clean and welcoming. The staff are very sociable and the menu a must. Breakfast the next morning was very... More

We ate in the bar here on a busy Friday night having turned up on the off chance. Very friendly staff and locals who treated us like long lost friends, despite having never seen us before. In addition, both the food and beer were excellent and very reasonably priced. We'll be back. More

Stayed for two nights in the Pack Horse Inn. First impression from outside seemed a nice attractive cottage/pub. Our bedrooms were clean, comfortable and quite modern, with a nice range of facilities. We had a meal first night which was basic pub grub yet tasted great. Breakfast was nice aswell. Only negative is the location is very quiet and literally... More

Location was brilliant and easy to find, just off the A1. Well situated between sites such as Lindisfarne, Bamburgh and Alnwick. We had a lovely 2 night break in this inn in a very quiet village. Couldnt praise the room higher - pristine & clean, warm, stylish, spacious with a brilliant new ensuite bathroom. oNly downside (slightly inevitable) was noise... More

We booked the so called deluxe room, which was tiny with two single beds squashed together although in fairness the bathroom was large enough if one of us needed to sleep in there!!. The room was also up the back stairs above the kitchen area we had to close the windows to stop the food smells getting in...........I'm not adverse... More

We booked 3 nights at The Pack Horse Inn as we were attending a wedding at nearby Doxford Hall. We found the room very quiet and comfortable and the large en-suite excellent. The breakfasts were freshly cooked and very filling, we also had dinner and Sunday lunch both were excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and I'd... More

After reading previous reviews we approached with some trepidation. We shouldnt have worried, beautiful clean tidy fresh room clean crisp linen and towels. Located in a seriously quiet village setting, perfect for a great nights sleep. Breakfast was very good, good service, hot wholesome, local produce, eggs obviously local by colour of yolk's. Dinner was more than adequate lots of... More

The Pack Horse Inn is rated 3* by Quality in Tourism. We were assessed recently & scored top marks for cleanliness, friendliness and food & obtained a good reveiw all round. I note this review chose not to discuss any aspects of her complaint with me at the time and benefitted from our special offer room rate of £45 for... More
