This was our first visit and we have already booked to go back later this year. Beautiful house, superb food, (especially the cakes) and such warm and welcoming hosts made this a wonderful haven of peace and tranquility. Long walks and log fires made this an excellent holiday despite the bitter weather! Glen Lodge is a must.

The other reviews have said everything about lovely rooms, friendly attention and great location. Glen Lodge is a good example of why a really good B&B is so much nicer than a hotel. We particularly appreciated the personal friendly attention from David with afternoon tea and the choice of 2 homely lounges to sit in with wood burners, one of... More

Just returned from a weekend at Glen Lodge. The weather was pretty dreadful so it was great to return to Davis & Meryl's at the end of each day in order to thaw out in front of the open fires, all helped by tea and cake. They are both marvellous hosts who went out of their way to provide advice... More

Everything said by previous guests is true. The wood burner stoves really added to the coziness of our stay. The breakfasts and afternoon tea were a real treat beautifully cooked and presented. A brilliant area to stay if you enjoy the countryside with many walks directly from Glen Lodge.

David and Meryl couldn't have been more welcoming. As soon as we arrived we were offered tea and homemade cakes!!! That night David took us up to the top of the hill to go stargazing. Simply wonderful!!! Our room, Coleridge, was huge and with a stunning view down the combe to Porlock Bay. The bed was as comfy as a... More

I'm writing this while looking out of the large bay window in the 'Foxglove' room at the top of the lodge looking down the combe across a low fog bank that cloaks the Bristol Channel as far as the Welsh coast. There is a long and interesting history to the Lodge, but after just a few days in the company... More

I have stayed at Glen Lodge several times and my partner and I love it! The grounds are totally gorgeous, set at the top of a valley that overlooks Porlock, right down to the sea and on a clear day you can see Wales. That view you can see from most rooms and when you wake up in the morning,... More

We stayed here for one night after our wedding to chill out. The place was perfect. Beautiful setting with amazing views, house and rooms were spacious and comfortable and the hosts really made you feel welcome. The food was incredible, if you stay here have the evening meal! Home cooked with garden produce. The breakfast in the morning was amazing,... More

We have just stayed for two nights at Glen Lodge in the beautiful village of Porlock. What a brilliant weekend. We had a huge, lovely room with a wonderful view across the house's fabulous garden and right down to the beach a couple of miles away. Our hosts, Meryl and David, could not have been more welcoming - nothing was... More

I can only reiterate the other reviews. It simply cannot be bettered. Of the hundred or more B and Bs we've recently stayed in, not one comes anywhere close. It's one of the very few places where you can stand outside and actually hear the silence. That, coupled with the comfort, hospitality and ambience inside, is more than simply a... More
