We have just returned from a 3 night stay. The hotel is very clean, the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. We visited with our 4 year old grandson, all the staff chatted to him and he was given a activity pack which thrilled him no end. The only problems we encountered however was in the bills.... More

The hotel is very conviently situated, just off the A1. We found check in quick, our room was on the same level as reception. The room was clean and spacious the bathroom was tired, but clean, and the sink unit worktop was badly burned, and should be replaced. This hotel was booked as a top secret hotel, so for what... Located just off the motorway, this is convenient if you're driving somewhere or need to work in Washington. Otherwise its a bit off the beaten track, no shops nearby so you're at the mercy of the hotel for food. The food is expensive but very nice and room service is quick. It does have a £3 charge. Staff are very... More

Difficult approach after leaving A1 North and greeted by grim looking dormitory style building. Easy car parking and pleasant efficeint receptionist. Room on 5th floor was compact and likewise the bathroom. Spotlessly clean and choice of pillow firmness was good.Had the usual battle with electronic door key which eventually I won. Tea and coffee making facility in room along with... More

Stayed in a Double executive suite. Booked in advance as 2 people and named the second person. But on arrival the room only had 1 bathrobe and slippers which is part of the executive upgrade. The minibar only had 1 mars bar in and the bathroom was ok but certainly could do with being replaced. The bath is now an... More

Good spot for visiting this area but remember it is a Holiday Inn not a hotel . Very clean breakfasts excellent but evening meals not every bodys choice. . We had room 305 which was very comfortable a litle traffic noise from the A1 but nothing that disturbed our sleep.

Went to holiday inn today to get some lunch. Waited for 15 minutes like an idiot at the bar and no staff around at all, not even at reception opposite! Left hungry and thirsty and went elsewhere. Embarrassing!!

Not stayed here for a while but the reception seemed to have had a lick of paint and the TV had certainly had a welcome upgrade in my room, which was small, stuffy and the furniture tatty. Not sure what other upgrades or improvements the hotel has had but it does need more in places. One thing I cannot fault was... More
