Amazing large room with a Double bed and a bunkbed where you can easily fit 4 people. Tv, movies, private toilet, clean and really quiet. An amazing lounge room and a clean and tidy kitchen. Interior finishings in timber. Private car park with gate closed at night. There was only one problem: a person with more than 1.80m tall needs... More

A very good budget place to stay in St. Helens. The pricing of the accomodation is excellent and the staff is very friendly. A lot of equipment can be rented for overnight camping at the Bay of Fires and close to an excellent 'rock' pub called Crossroads. They have dorm rooms, but also doubles and even a double room with... More

Clean Helpful Staff Quiet I would like to stay again sometime. I nearly booked a second night. The kitchen was great. St Helen is a beautiful, quiet coastal town. The 'Bay of fires' is just up the road and one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The beach won awards as the sand is so reflective and... More

Great place!!! Stayed here while biking East coast of Tasmania. Stayed in the dorms and they were great - clean, well supplied, comfy. Checked out the private rooms (although they were booked when I was there) and they looked great too. I don't know why anyone would stay at a hotel when this gem was available. Located centrally you have... More

I have stayed at this hostel two times this year. The first time was in March, and the second time in June. It was very clean both times; and the owners very friendly, and helpful as to where places are, what to see, and even helpful about other places to stay in Tasmania. Overall a very pleasant and comfortable place.... More

Stayed there for 4 days in a dorm. it was not very busy so the room was quite spacious with comfy beds. The hostel is friendly, ultra clean and very comfortable. Great location to go to all the attractions - Bay of Fires, Blue Tiers, Columbas Falls... I hired a bike from the backpacker and rode to the Binalong bay.... More

Standard hostel - the room was basic but fairly clean. The premises was quiet so we had no issues getting to sleep. Lodging is somewhat limited in this part of Tassie, so this is a really good value option as a base to explore the Bay of Fires area.

Philip Thank you for your review. I hope you come again . There is shortage of budget accomodation in NE Tasmania as a lot of Backpacker type accomodation YHA's etc have closed in the last 9 years or so (eight in the last count). The fact remains that we are somewhat overlooked as a Tourist destination ,despite exellent reviews from... More

Highly recommend this place. We stayed in the family room with ensuite with our two children. Great room, spotlessly clean, comfy beds - perfect. The kitchen & dining area are first class and spotlessly clean also as were the main toilet facilities. Spent a lovely evening chatting with the other guests in the common room. Great location as it is... More

For what they charge it is not worth it. Travellers like myself travel on a budget and bakcpackers are always known to be cheap. But the holiday accommodation in St Helens is shocking. Everywhere the pri ces are high - no wonder they have trouble attracting visitors. If you go to HObart you get much better deals that here. The... More

Dear Kesh I was sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us on the 6th March 2012. In fairness I feel that the following points are valid- 1. You stayed in the Dorm for $25 (inc linen) this was the average price for a dorm bed in Tasmania in 2012. 2.Your critisim seems to mianly target St Helens... More

What a breath of fresh air this place was. I start by explaining that we are older travellers (well 55 years old!) and we have never stayed in a backpackers before but we were really keen to walk the classic Bay of Fires trail and that meant getting help with one way transport and gear to start the hike. We... More
