My daughter and I spent two nights at the hotel, one in the Jane Austen room which was lovely and one in the J K Rowling room which was great fun. All of the rooms that we saw were cleverly decorated and definitely appropriate for the authors. The living room (overlooking the ocean), library and puzzle room are very relaxing... More

A great place to unwind! With its many tasteful and thoughtfully decorated rooms, each boasts a theme of an author whose works are found within. There are multi-levels of treasures including cozy places to relax, read, view the beautiful ocean, browse the gift shop, or dine in their lovely restaurant! All affordably priced and worth going again and again!

We make an annual pilgrimage to the Sylvia Beach Hotel from Portland to escape the stress of the city and turn off the blackberries for a weekend. Each time we visit, we are enchanted by the rooms and delighted by the exceptional dinner (don't make a mistake and choose a restaurant in town - a four course meal for $23... More

Although it was a few years ago, I spent several days here whilst attending the Newport Wine Festival. It was such a blessing to be away from TV and to be surrounded by wonderful peace and quiet. Each room is dedicated to a different author, and the two suites with fireplaces were AWESOME! Right next to the beach, it was... More

Clean, quiet, comfortable, fun, friendly staff. My daughter & I are trying to make it a Mother's Day tradition. We both love the quiet comfort of this place. We even plan a private tea for ourselves in the Library while we visit & watch the ocean. The food is terrific too. I can't say enough good about Sylvia Beach Hotel.

My beau and I were looking for a last minute destination during 4th of July weekend. I had visited Newport, OR in years past and remember seeing the Sylvia Beach Hotel. They let us tour some of the rooms that were available and we choose the William Shakespeare room. My favorite part were the numerous journals in the room and... More

The Sylvia Beach Hotel is a unique B&B that is ideal for those who want to sit by the fire, read to their hearts' content, and gaze at the ocean. All of the rooms are named after and decorated in the style of different authors, some of the newer ones being Jules Verne (fabulous!), J.K. Rowling (complete with a set... More

There are no TV phone, wifi, but who needs it with all the scenery, themed rooms, fantastic food and the sound of surf all night. The rooms are cosy and some with fireplaces. Books and games abound. The staff is pleasantly helpful. A quiet get away for those who write, need space and solitude.

I've only been here in the winter, when it's a great place to cozy up to a fire with some hot cocoa or tea and a good book, or just watch the dramatic weather unfold over the ocean. The rooms are old fashioned, filled with fascinating books, journals and decorations that suit the style/time period of various famous authors. There... More

This is a place for book lovers and adventure seekers. The hotel is rich in detail and little surprises that will delight the avid reader. While always full of kindred spirits seeking a quiet haven for reading and reflection, it's not necessarily a place to go to be super social like some bed and breakfasts. It's a place to quiet...
