We are big fans of Mcmenamins throughout Oregon. We've made an effort to go to all of their establishments but Kennedy School and the one at the river in Vancouver are our favorites. Our family decided to celebrate St. Patrick's day at Kennedy School this year and it was so much fun! There were bands and Irish dancers, face painting... More

Don't just take my word on it, this was the view of the guy at "The bicycle shop" who fixes my expat daughter's single speed. He knows because the Kennedy School http://www.mcmenamins.com/427-kennedy-school-home is where he had his mom stay when she came to visit Portland, OR. It was recommended to us by a friend whose daughter had moved there from... More

what was not to like a the kennedy school . . . we stayed in mrs. francis's room since there are no room numbers at this funky, quirky and special hotel. our room was complete with a cloak room and a blackboard. the art work lining the halls and in each and every space of the hotel, including our room... We had just recently finished up an awesome weekend in Bend, OR at McMenamins Old Francis hotel, so we were excited to stay at Kennedy School. I was disappointed in the difference in the level of service from the front desk to the waiters in the restauants. No coffee or TVs in the rooms, which is fine with no TV... More

You are never going to be disappointed by a McMenamins property, but if you want to take a trip back to the simpler times of elementary and middle school, all while enjoying a fresh squeezed and muddled elixir, this is the place for you. The bars, each unique and fascinating, offer different elements of the school theme, from the Detention... More

I've been to the Kennedy School about 3 times now, and have just had a ball each and every time I've stayed there. Sometimes it's hard to feel relaxed on a road trip vacation, and when we're at the KS, time slows down, and it's almost hard to get into Portland... I just wanna careen from pint to theater to... We stayed three nights at this hotel and would have stayed longer but the weekends are booked months in advance. The unique atmosphere seems to appeal to a very diverse client base. Both young and older couples were enjoying the bars and restaurants on site and young children found much to entertain themselves, most exceptionally the soaking pool. Staff was... More

As many others have suggested, this was one of the most interesting places I have ever stayed. It was also one of the most entertaining. Perhaps I'm not hard to please - a free movie with my stay? You made my night guys! It was a great way to unwind after the drive from Seattle. I also spent about 30... More

We were planning a two night stay in Portland and had no idea where to stay. We found The Kennedy School on TA and so glad we did. This was one of the most interesting places I've ever stayed and would definitely go back. The hotel was clean and service was friendly. We enjoyed the salt water soaking tub which... More

My husband and I stayed at Kennedy School for a friend's wedding. We had eaten at other McMenamins restaurants, but had never stayed at one of their hotels. Upon arriving, we had the pleasure of being greeted by a friendly and welcoming parking attendant who helped us find the exclusive guest parking and took the time to compliment our attire.... More
