I used the Priceline "name your price" deal for a Portland hotel and was given this one. Upon arrival, we were offered a room that was a former smoking room; however, we declined that and were given the room next to it -- room 58, and I was charged $20 more per night. It was a Friday night, and they... More

Dear hikerchick7: We wish to express our appreciation to you for taking the time to share feedback about our property. We were disappointed to hear that you were unhappy with the room you were provided. We believe that each one of our guests deserves to stay in a room which is both clean and comfortable, and we regret we were... More

We typically stay at the Banfield when needing overnight accommodations near downtown Portland and have done so for years. We are consistently treated well and any problems are quickly and gracefully handled. We are aware of slow progress in replacing worn-out fabrics, particularly carpet and most particularly carpeting in the public areas. Updating bathrooms was a big improvement, as was... More

We stayed at the Banfield while we worked a trade show in Portland. The first thing we noticed was that the whole motel smelled like urine. You know a hotel has a problem with smells when all of the vacant rooms have their windows open in order to air them out. As we checked in, a gentlman of a less... More

Much of his motel located near Interstate 84 in Portland is basically inhabited by on a permanent basis by very sad folks who actually live there year-round. If it weren't for the motel they would be homeless. I'm glad they have a place to stay, but unless you're looking for a reality check for you family, it isn't the kind... More

Me and my boyfriend decided to stay at the Banfield after searching for reasonable hotels online. The room was about average size, nice big bed, tv, microwave, fridge and very friendly and helpful staff. It was walking distance to the MAX, shops, starbucks, pool hall, sushi, and a trader joes. Once you walk like 5 min to the MAX, it's... More

The Banfield is a clean, basic 1 star motel in the Hollywood district of Portland. Our room was a decent size and had two double beds, TV, microwave, fridge, alarm clock/radio, bathroom, storage and a copule of chairs. Towels and soap are provided, but no shampoo or hair dryer. The room had a TV but the reception was a bit... More

The manager decided that he wanted to rent the rooms on a nightly rather than a weekly basis, so he lied to our faces and kicked us out. He refused to refund our money.

Far from fancy, but it's close to the Bohemian district, where my son lives. Econolodge is the only other choice nearby, & it's about the same quality.

I was fooled by the picture and description on Expedia and I was VERY disappointed in this dirty, dingy motel. The only good things I can say are the staff were helpful, the location was convenient to public transportation, and when I requested a larger room, they complied (for a minimal $5 per night fee).

Don't be fooled by the "heated pool" picture- The pool is not available for much of the year. Bring clean sheets and be careful about the glue traps for mice. Other residents may be from the county, which gives vouchers for people for whom they try to find permanent housing - street people. I complained to expedia that I couldn't... More
