Room looked reasonably appealing on arrival, reception was friendly and helpful. No lifts so had to carry my luggage up 2 sets of stairs (staff did offer to help) - bit of a rabbit warren once inside the main building. The curtains in the room would not shut at all, there were massive gaps on either side as they simply... More

spent last night here. Carpet torn and stained. Bed lumpy and uncomfortable, no top sheet. Curtains are decorative and do not close. Saw the sun rise!!! One packet of biscuits in a double room??? Average cleanliness. It didn't help that there was no power this morning so hot breakfasts were not available - no one's fault but didn't help to... More

We have just come back from two nights at the Waterloo hotel. We arrived on Friday at 1.00 and found that check in time was 2.00. Obviously our room wasn't ready but we had a very friendly welcome from the receptionist. We had a snack in the bar and at 1.30 the receptionist came and told us our room was... More

We recently had my 40th birthday celebration at the Waterloo Hotel and it really was an excellent night. We had tentatively looked at a few local venues, and chose the Waterloo as we would have use of much of the bar area, as we didn't want to be shut away in an atmosphere-less room. In advance of the night itself,... More

Blood on the carpet round bed, black mould round windows, dirty dirty dirty, bathroom toilet stained and skid marked with a little poo left for good measure, shower head clogged need cleaning, hair on floor in bathrooms really unclean. Dust on chair so bad you didn't want to sit on it, cobwebs and lots of spiders. General disgrace, breakfast £13.95... More

We had stayed at this hotel a couple or so years ago and had found it to be pretty disappointing so it was a little nervously that we booked again especially since this time we have a baby. But what a change! Service from start to end was on the whole truly excellent. Reception were friendly and helpful, housekeeping were... More

I stayed in this hotel numerous times for business, and unfortunately it kept getting worse. Location is nice, out in the open to be able to go out running, and the room service was nice. Unfortunately the staff (most) have no clue about anything, and often you have to ask 5 times for things. Internet is not free, and is... More

We stayed for two nights this week - booked as part of a tour. The room was smallish but clean and tidy with matching furniture and everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable. One or two problems with stuff not working (mainly in the bathroon which looked fairly new) which were quickly rectified. As we were on a tour the... More

Stayed here recently for one night on business in area, it is stated as being 4* and i paid £90 for B&B through hotel booking company. On checkout was charged £2 for internet access and £2 for paying by credit card, which were not advised at check in, not acceptable business practice as far as I am concerned. The room... More

I booked a room at this hotel at short notice and was asked if it was my first stay. On replying that it was, the booking agent said that he would do his best to arrange a room upgrade for me - good start! Upon checking in I found the whole experience easy, quick and was in my room within... More
