Stayed one night. Genuine local in heart of Berkshire, close to lovely Inkpen Common. Good beer, GREAT food and lovely, friendly staff, particularly Gill, the owner. Bedrooms a little plain, but understand these are next on the list.

This weekend away was bought for us for an anniversary present. I really think when you say you have a voucher or it's a deal they put you in the worst room they have, in our experience anyway!!
Accommodation: Our room was situated in a courtyard, lovely frontage, but with the bedroom window looking out onto the car park. Quite...

We just spent 2 nights at The Crown & Garter in Inkpen Common and it was perfect. Set in lovely peaceful countryside, slightly off track but lovely location to just get away. The room was nice and cosy and had everything we needed. The Pub was fantastic with lovely staff and a great selection of Beer and wine. Very clean...

My wife & I were given a voucher for Christmas from our lovely family which entitled us to a two night break for two. How fortunate we were to be given in our list of venues the Crown & Garter at Inkpen. We arrived much earlier than expected (around 2pm) and the pub was still open and Gill, our host,...

We stayed in the Crown and Garter for a couple of nights, attracted by the reviews of its food. We weren't disappointed. The quality of the evening meals was really excellent - traditional food using local ingredients and done with real care and attention and with efficient service. I bumped into the owner in the gents just after our meal...

A one night stay- we were made to feel very welcome. Excellent breakfast! Delicious Eggs Benedict and we appreciated the local honey. Good decor in the bedroom and a comfortable night's sleep. In time, the bathroom furniture is going to appear dated for the price- crack in the sink.Nevertheless, we would return for the distinctive ambience.

We stayed overnight after a lovely day at Highclere castle. We arrived about 5 and made ourselves comfortable in what was a clean and comfy room. We headed to the bar and enjoyed a few drinks in the lovely surroundings and then ordered our meal. This proved to be excellent and of a good portion size. The host was attentive...

We enjoyed our stay at the Crown and Garter, especially the food and the location not far from Inkpen Common.
Unfortunately we found the bed quite soft and the walls quite thin (our room looked like it used to be part of 2 adjoining family rooms). That wouldn't have been a problem but one of our neighbours unfortunately snored!

We arrived at lunch time and were very pleasantly surprised that our room was ready. Lovely room, spotless. Apart from one lunch, we ate all our meals there. Coming from London, we're used to a good variety of places but were amazed at the quality of the food, the fact that it arrived piping hot every time, and the attention...
