The beach is stunningly beautiful, with soft sand, gentle waves, salt marsh, and partially submerged, haunting trees. Palmettos, live oaks, and pines frame the campground. My wife and I went in early April. The day was cloudy with a shower or two. This cloudy weather made for a cooler more pleasant visit. The wind was blowing and the sound of the ocean was very calming. We climbed to the top of the lighthouse and the view was marvelous.

This is my favorite beach and campground. We go every year and love it. We always stay as close to the beach as possible in section 3. The farther back you get the mosquitos are terrible! This is one of the last undisturbed barrier islands on the east coast. It is beautiful. Raccoons and deer are abundant and looking for food handouts.
