We just spent the weekend at the Fulton Lane Inn and we were pleasantly surprised of its good location near shops and restaurants. We also liked the convenience of the parking lot right behind the hotel. The staff is warm and friendly. However, the Inn is in need of new carpets and better cleaning.

My sister and I were looking for a place on King Street. This was our third time in Charleston and we were there to shop and dine. This was a perfect place for that. The rooms are so beautiful and the beds are very comfortable. They deliver breakfast to your room. We had a great time meeting fellow travelers at... More

Staff very nice, but for the price charged the facilities of this Inn are fairly minimal. No restaurant, they share facilities with hotel next door. Complimentary breakfast is somewhat uninteresting. Nowhere to sit outside.

From your comments, it appears that you were looking for more of a full service hotel. As a bed and breakfast, we provide a variety of healthy and other breakfast choices delivered to your room. Over the recent Memorial Day weekend we met up in Charleston with our son and his wife (from VA) and our daughter and her husband (from MN) for a family gathering. We had visited the city previously but they had not, and we wanted to make this a very special weekend, potentially the start of a family tradition. Despite the... More

We stayed three nights (the imposed minimum) during the 2013 Spoleto Festival. A careful read of TripAdvisor reviews sums up our experience: great service, great location, very tired property in need of a refurbishment (paint, carpet, furniture). Charleston is an expensive town and Fulton Street Inn is no exception. That makes this property a nice place but not a great... More

I am thrilled that you had such a great time at the Fulton Lane Inn during Spoleto Festival. Thank you for your notes about our excellent service and location. We constantly paint and refurbish furniture and carpet on an ongoing basis. We have scheduled for many of these refurbishment projects this summer. We believe that our inn offers guests a... More

We've stayed at either the Fulton lane or King's Courtyard Inn at least once a year for the past five years and love them both. The staff is terrific, and they are more than willing to help you find a great place to. Eat or a site to visit. The rooms are well appointed and clean, and we love being... More

Overall we enjoyed our stay. We come to Charleston at least once a year. They have a private parking lot & you can walk to everything downtown super easily. The room was comfortable & modest. There isn't any spot outdoors to enjoy but that is the ONLY minor amenity that was missing. Staff was friendly, breakfast was a bonus. We'd... More

We were pleasantly surprised by the great location and spaciousness of our room. Staff and housekeeping were all very nice. Loved the afternoon cheese and wine time and free "room service" breakfast - was great to be able to eat in our jammies! These two things saved us $$ each day. Last minute business trip to Charleston, and I lucked out staying at this lovely inn! Upon arrival, my husband and I were notified that our room was upgraded to the cathedral suite. Charleston is a very old city so I say the following with complete understanding--a pipe broke in the basement no more than 20 minutes after our check-in and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A romantic hideaway in America’s most enchanting city, The Fulton Lane Inn is private, intimate and exceptionally accommodating. The Fulton Lane Inn surrounds you with the comfort and gracious ambiance of a bygone era. Many of our spacious rooms feature oversized whirlpool baths and luxurious canopied beds, draped with hand strung netting. Other rooms boast cathedral ceilings and several offer fireplaces.Throughout, soaring windows frame captivating vistas of the city's historic skyline, punctuated with the many trademark church spires. The charm and spirit of the Old South live on in this historic inn, built by the family of Confederate blockade runner John Rugheimer. Regarded as the most sophisticated city in America, antebellum Charleston was the cradle of Southern gentility. The proper Charleston home then welcomed summer's casual pace by covering formal furnishings in airy muslin, replacing wool carpets with sisal, and positioning shutters to admit fresh breezes and to provide gentle shade. At the Fulton Lane Inn, that spirit has been beautifully recaptured. Here, light filters softly through louvered shades, casting an inviting glow on lush plants. The patina of fine woods, natural textures and soft pastels invite you to indulge in the simple pleasures of a more gracious time. During your stay, you'll be pampered with complimentary continental breakfast delivered to your room each morning. Our traditional Southern hospitality continues with sherry in the lobby each evening. Of course, our concierge is always at hand to attend to your every need. You're just a mere stroll from the famous harbor, historic homes and attractions. The Fulton Lane Inn is situated just off King Street, tucked away on a pedestrian lane in the heart of the city's famous historic district. The inn is literally surrounded by countless fascinating boutiques, scores of antique shops and elegant restaurants. There are countless ways to enjoy the Fulton Lane Inn. ... more   less
