Lazy U is very clean and our 2 day stay was great. Owners Cindy and Verlin have done a great job remodeling and updating the rooms. The bed was comfortable and we heard no noise from neighboring rooms or traffic. Great location on Mt. Rushmore Road to get to major attractions. All the staff was very helpful in recommending what... More

We stayed here based on reviews I found on TA. I wanted a Motel where I could park my car outside my door. Hubby has a lot of medical equipment that I have to carry into the room myself. The owner was so very friendly, and the room was clean and updated. The beds were comfortable and I had a... More

A clean, comfortable place to spend the night. What really made this one stand out from all the motels we stayed in during our coast to coast road trip is the great advice we got from the owner couple. You could tell they have been on the road alot and really know their way around the SD/WY/CO area. Recommended.

We've been traveling for 2 weeks and have stayed at some very nice motels. The Lazy "U" Motel was the best by far. Very clean! It's not fancy, but it has everything you want. The beds are exceptionally comfortable, the owners are very nice, and the bathroom was spotless with plenty of towels, etc. This motel even has a laundry... More

We were traveling between the Black Hills Area and North Dakota and needed a place to stay for a day to "get civilized" after camping for 6 nights. Cindy and her husband welcomed us and our small dog to the Lazy "U" where we took showers in a small but clean bathroom, did laundry, stored our food in a mini-fridge... More

The owners, Verlyn and Cindy, are very friendly and helpful. His advice on the roads to explore in the Black Hills was right on. The rooms were clean and neat, and we had everything we needed. The hotel looks very dated from the road. It was built in 1957, and looks it, but the owners do a good job of... More

Our family stayed here 5 nights and were extremely pleased! The husband/wife owners were there every day and were very helpful giving suggestions where to eat. The location of the motel was perfect for heading out on our sightseeing adventures and the rooms were very very clean and quiet. The beds were comfortable and the donuts delicious! Cindy (owner) found... More

The Rapid City Information Center suggested the Lazy "U" along with a couple of others when we stopped to find affordable rooms for a 4-night stay in Rapid City. The call was made right from the RCIC and with good directions, we had ourselves some rooms. Verylyn and Cindy are a fount of information about the area with good advice... More

The husband/wife owners are the best: welcoming, attentive, fine advice. Four 70+yo stayed 3 nights. Rooms: clean with just enough space. Beds firm and comfortable. Lighting excellent for reading in bed. TV flat-screen with remote and cable. Wifi. Rates: half those of major chains. Our stay was not crowded; vacant rooms buffered neighbor-noise. If full, the place could easily be... More
