It took a long time to get here from Cork but I'd have to say it was worth it. There are only 4/5 rooms but ours faced out over the cove & the heron did make several guest appearances! The decor is very plain & a bit old fashioned but none the worse for that the beds were comfortable &... More

The unusually bad July weather when we visited was forgotten about during our stay at this B+B and restaurant in West Cork. Dinner was excellent and the room was overlooking the harbour. Good breakfast also, with pleasant staff. A good spot to relax and convenient for other attractions such as Barley Cove beach and Mizen Head (lighthouse centre).

Struggling to find food and rest on the peninsula, a almost given up hope when we stumbled on the cove. We were given the only twin and poorest room as all the best rooms with balconies taken. All necessary conveniences present however. Food in restaurant was excellent and rather than select your wine from a menu, you did so from... More

This is an old style B+B, probably living a little in the past, which need not be a put off. The food is what I would call 1960s Ireland, nothing wrong, but I can't remember what I had, which is in itself comment enough. Now I noticed below a comment on the smell, that I can remember, it is 1960's... More

We took advantage of a special offer for 2 nights B&B and 1 dinner and were not disappointed.having stayed at The Heron's Cove about 5 years ago we were delighted to see that it had remained the same-basic but roomy and comfortable bedroom with beautiful view of the Cove directly in front of the bedroomof the balcony. The dining room... More

I recently stayed in the Herons Cove for a two night stay, it is such a beautiful setting there, with plenty to do locally and to visit, the Mizen bridge, Crookhaven, the beach and so many areas to walk in. We ate in the restaurant on the Friday night and found the food to be to an excellent standard, there... More

While the main attraction of the Heron's Cove is the excellent restaurant, the rooms are very pleasant and with a view of the Cove which changes with the tide and the light. The restaurant is excellent. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Cuisine is based on local produce especially fish and meat. The fixed menu offers an excellent choice... More

Heron's Cove has just six bedrooms and overlooks a very peaceful tidal harbour where, surprise, surprise herons can be seen fishing. As a B&B I think it is one of the best in Cork and offers excellent value. Sue, the owner makes sure that everything is kept clean and tidy and the bedrooms are very cosy on a rainy day.... More

We recently spent 4 nights in Herons Cove. Our stay was perfect. The room was a generous sized family room with balcony and wonderful view. Comfortable beds, plenty of room and peace and quiet meant we all had good nights sleep. Sue and staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and evening meals were delicious. Even a fussy 8 yeal... More

We first visited The Herons Cove nearly 20 years ago and had long looked forward to a revisit which we did a couple of weeks ago for two nights. We were not disappointed and for the first time we stayed over. The room was very comfortable, well equipped and with a view to beat most hotels and spotless. We were... More
