This is a gracious old property that gives a view into a life gone by, with lovely walking paths, pens of animals, golf holes, pool, an asphalt topped tennis court.  The staff continues that feel of a graciousness of the past.  There is a lovely drawing room where they serve you drinks nightly prior to dinner.  The drinks are perfectly... What can I say? It's like an episode of father Ted meets The Irish RM with a side helping of Michelin starred quality traditional food. Every tourist to Ireland should be required to stay here to sample the authentic, quirky, eccentric Ireland of the pre-tiger economy replete with waitresses who have worked here for years, dressed in black and white... We stayed on the lower level, in the back of the house, with lovely views of the garden and a private patio. This place is well run and pays attention to detail. The staff were helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was delicious with many in house made delights....loved the bread! If you stay, avail yourself of the sitting room, it's a... More

This is the first online review I have ever felt compelled to write, and unfortunately it is for the wrong reasons. Our April 2012 stay began when we were told upon check-in that our 6-year-old son was unwelcome in the dining room during dinner hour. We made it clear when booking the room that we had a child, but never... More

This was our third visit though we'd not stayed here for over ten years. We came with four friends for the weekend. Our deal was two nights bed and breakfast and one dinner. We had a lovely time and it would be difficult to fault the hotel. The welcome was warm, the room comfortable though not luxurious and the food... More

We took advantage of two night B & B break at this well know country house hotel. Dinner on one evening was included in the cost. Luckily we picked two days which were some of the warmest March days on record. Its a lovely setting with extensive grounds and gardens. One should be aware that it is also a working... More

Spent a great night in ballymaloe. Room not luxurious, but the food at dinner was second to none, not pretentious in any way, good local food cooked to perfection & served by people who cared. Would return at any time Mary downes

We stayed here as a treat for little women's Christmas and it really was so relaxing. The 7 course dinner was outstanding. Loved the idea of going up for the starter. The grey mullet doesn't sound nice but it was lovely. A real foodie's place! The breakfast was even better those pears were to die for. I loved that there... More

The whole experience of staying and dining has been brought to a very high level due to decades of practice, attention to detail and that very important personal touch. When we arrived on this occasion, we were met with my favourite check-in greeting "we are pleased to offer you a complimentary upgrade". The room was first class and very relaxing.... More
