We recently spent 2 nights at Dollardstown House and had a wonderful time. The house is wonderful and atmospheric, set in beautiful grounds. Our hosts, Antoinette and Andrew could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The legendary scones lived up to our expectations, and both the breakfasts and evening dinner cooked by local chef Lydia were fabulous. (We had... More

My Husband and I are just back from a lovely relaxing one night stay at Dollardstown House. Arrived to a very warm welcome and lovely homemade scones which we kept for the next day as didn't want to fill up before dinner. Lovely surroundings and homemade dinner cooked by Lydia. The food was excellent. Was able to relax by a... More

A bit off the beaten track, but worth it! Indeed, our favourite in Ireland (we sampled about 7 B&B's around the country). Antoinette and Andrew were absolutely lovely hosts, catering to all our needs. We enjoyed dinner both nights of our stay, cooked by Lydia - simple yet innovative, well-presented cuisine, portions substantial! And some of the best home cooked... More

Dear G & K. Thank you so much for staying with us and for your kind words. We are delighted to hear you had a good time. This spring has been particularly cold for Irish standards. It is easy to see how heating Dollardstown in the early 17hundreds must have been a continuous process of keeping all the fires going... More

We stayed overnight at Dollardstown and though a brief visit, we were extremely well looked after. Our late arrival was greeted with an open door, tea and homemade scones. As it was the Valentine's weekend, we were also bestowed with a bottle of sparkling wine, which was a lovely touch. The house is a lovely change from a hotel, very... More

Can only comment on an afternoon tea that we had here, but if that is any indication of how they treat their their overnight guests then I would say that this place is well worth a visit, our host went out their way to makes us feel that we were welcome.

I had stayed in Dollarstown when I was at a wedding in Athy back in 1995, and loved it, so when I was sent to Ireland for three and a half weeks with work, I couldn't think of any where nicer to spend this time. Andrew and Antoinette tailor made a package that included dinner bed and breakfast. I must... More

Dear G, thank you so much for the kind words and especially for coming back to Dollardstown after all those years. Before we re-opened in 2011, Andrew's mother Mary Behan ran the B&B here for years. Treading in her footsteps, we've kept the scale small and do aim to be as flexible as we can around a guest's needs. We... More

I would just like to say that, through an unfortunate series of events and timing, we actually did not get to take advantage of our reservation at Dollardstown. Thanks so much S & A for the kind words. Although I am not sure we deserve the credit in this case. We would have loved to have you stay with us. Perfectly relaxing. Nothing and I repeat NOTHING is too much trouble for the owners. I got treated like absolute royalty. Very nice food (and I'm a chef, so I know what I'm talking about). And beds more comfortable than four star hotels. Top marks.

Dear R. Many, many thanks for your kindness. Thank you for complimenting on our food.
