The weather was absolutely terrible, but from the moment we arrived at this beautiful place we didn't notice the rain. Our suite was perfect, the food was delicious and Sam and Huw were a delight. We plan to stay longer next time.

We have been staying at this hotel for a number of years now, however it has been at its most superlative under the current ownership of Sam and Hugh. They have made the hotel not only a most luxurious and relaxing experience, but also demonstrate seamless service throughout. They are a joy to stay with and we can't wait to... More

It is wonderful to hear that you, as long term regulars who have stayed here under a number of proprietors, approve of the improvements we have made to the property over the last few years. People are often averse to change and we are thrilled that you feel the hotel to be much improved under our watch. We are incredibly... More

We stayed at the Old Rectory last week and it was perfect. Our daughter got married on the 11th May and we knew that it would be a 'bit flat' after the wedding so we were looking for a special country retreat to revive our spirits .....and we found it. Huw and Sam were perfect hosts and made us feel very... More

By returning frequently one might be accused of over familiarity. Not so!The welcome is always very friendly and helpful with luggage etc.Tea is a "pick me up" after the journey and the cake could be Huw's mouth watering chocolate brownie-not to be missed. There is constant improvements to the buildings and the new Orangery is a definitive must.Dinner and the excellent choice... We needed a break, a really important one as we had recently been bereaved. This was our first visit to the Old Rectory, and maybe that was a gamble when we needed a special time away. But how that gamble paid off, we have never been so relaxed following a two day break in a hotel. This establishment is simply... More

We are delighted that you enjoyed your first stay at The Old Rectory and that the "gamble" paid off, We appreciate that it is often difficult for Coeliacs to go away on holiday, safe in the knowledge that their particular dietry requirements are understood, so we are happy to provide a large number of gluten free options on our menu.... Overall, very welcoming and accommodating. Two things I was not keen on: - the ambiance at dinner was a little weird. Not too keen on background music and all felt a little bit like school dinner than an attempt at quality dining (as another couple commented to me, there was a feeling that if you didn't finish your greens ,... Huw and Sam continue to get even better. Nothing to fault but everything to praise. We will be back again soon. Food is superb and wine list is excellent. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Afternoon tea is a bonus. A shame they cannot fix the weather!

There aren't many hotels where you get introduced to the owners and they cook all the food themselves and make you feel like one of the family. We stayed in the 'Beeches' room for two nights.
