This hotel is exceptional.....the staff were down to earth and friendly & warm....and felt like family instantly. THe room was incredible, and even though we booked a standard room, we walked in to find a 4 poster bed there ! The bed was the most comfy I have ever slept in, and the light on the canapy of the bed... More

I've stayed at the Hunter's twice, and am thoroughly looking forward to returning in a few weeks time. The rooms are large, clean and very comfortable, and the two I stayed in, at opposite sides of the inn, were well away from any bar noise. There's no phone signal, but the rooms have free wi-fi access. The location is second... More

The location is in a beautiful steep sided valley in ancient oak woods in the Exmoor National Park. On first impressions from the outside the hotel is generously proportioned with interesting features and a homely Victorian atmosphere. It is in a secluded and peaceful position. On entering the hotel our initial perceptions were sharply contrasted with our first impressions of... More

We went here with friends for a light lunch, and and from past experience had enjoyed the food. However, this time was different. Three of us ordered the soup, and when it arrived, two were given soup spoons, whilst the other was given a dessert spoon. When we pointed this out to the waitress, we were informed that they only... Two of us stayed for a three day visit along with 2 dogs. The food was excellent, and even our dogs got a sausage! Service was genuinely warm and friendly and pro active across the board. Our attic room had a lovely view of the garden and was decorated and appointed to deal with people and dogs! I first came... More

After a long walk it is quite welcome to see a pub, however be patient when waiting for your order firstly at the bar and then at your table. More

Had lunch here on the 1st and 3rd April. Our first visit on Sunday 1st required us to wait for 45 mins plus for our food. We complained twice. We were given conflicting stories why there was a delay. When a more senior member of the waiting staff turned up she told us that (whilst holding our food) that we... More

As a Mothers Day treat we stopped off at Hunters Inn for a cream tea (being a weakness of mine!). However, what a disappointment it turned out to be. After ordering and paying for a cream tea we went and sat down and waited in anticipation. What a let down! The waitress brought us our scones and jam - but... More
