When we arrived we were told our booking was not in the diary, however one of the double rooms was free so no harm done! We knew from other reviewers the double rooms were tight for space and with around 2 foot of clearance between the bunk bed and the wall, it did make for an interesting stay which required... More

Overall the place had a great location and good facilities. That said, the room we stayed in, which was called "small but private", was really too small to be called a room. Aside from the bunk beds there was no room for our bags nor for 2 persons to stand simultaneously, which made use of our bags practically impossible (we... More

I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of August, my 2nd time and if anything it has improved since my last visit. It helped I suppose that the weather was decent the hostel was fairly busy however it was clean and there was plenty of hot water for showers, which are excellent. Bedding was fresh 2 cookers and... I emailed an enquiry about 2 motorcyclists staying at the hostel and if a private room was available. I was told the room was "tiny" and they weren't kidding! It wasn't exacty ideal for all the bike gear and luggage we were carrying. On saying that, the hostel was very clean with good facilities (including the first widescreen telly we... More

Very nice furniture and linen for a bunk house, cheap laundry and space on the lines for drying (when it's not raining). All in all a very comfortable stay! More

As has been said in the other reviews this place is fabulous. Fiona is a perfect host. 2 dorms with 8 beds and 2 rooms with a bunkbed. Bed linen is supplied and is lovely and warm are the rooms which are centrally heated. The outside patio area is on decking and is covered and would be lovely on a... More

With great toilet and shower facilities, wooden patio area with park benches (under cover!) a really cool view, local free car parking, comfy (already made) beds and a massive kitchen, this is a great hostel. Service from the owner Fiona was fab too! Thanks! More

A view out to see from the dining room table. Incredible. A good kitchen, clean rooms and comfortable beds. We had a tiny two bunk room to ourselves. It was extremely small but we appreciated the privacy. Bathrooms were also good. If you go to Durness stay here but book ahead. Skip the SYH if at all possible. There is... More
