Helpful friendly staff, nice meals evening and breakfast. Convenient location. Nicer rooms than I expected for a higgledy-piggledy old pub, especially liked having a proper shower. However the beds are truly awful they are so hard and uncomfortable, gave me a bad back for the day; didn't sleep much and was in serious pain the next day. I was in... More

When visiting Biggar or passing through I recommend you take time to eat here. The staff or excellent as is the owner Robert. Food always good and a lovely coal fire awaits you in the dining area. They have a very good deal on Thursday - 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £30! Give it a try.

My boyfriend and I had dinner here on 6th April. He recommended it as I had never been. The small dining room was lovely with nice linens and friendly staff. The complimentary canapes were lovely and service was quick. I had a delicious prawn cocktail and my boyfriend cullen skink. I then had a lovely chicken burger and he surf... More

Friendly staff, room fine, clean and comfortable, but with some little inconveniences. These caused me amusement rather than annoyance, such as no on/off switch on the bedside lamps. To get round this I had to un-plug the heater and the kettle, loop the extension cable over the draw so I could plug and un-plug the lamp to switch on and... More

Stayed for one night whilst attending a wedding locally. Our rooms were ready early in the day which was very useful to us. Booked two rooms, a twin in the extension and family room in the older part of the building. The twin was a good size and the family room was very spacious. The older part of the building... More

Good location, friendly staff. Wonderful breakfast and excellent service - best pot of tea ever. Bathroom had a bit of a musty odor.

We stayed here for one night & found it to be very comfortable. The staff were so friendly & made it feel like a home away from home. We had the 2nd floor & had to carry suitcases but someone helped us so was no bother. The room was clean with tea/coffee making facility, tiny bathroom but it served it's purpose.... More

Fantastic "wee" pub/hotel, one of the best in Biggar. Can always be guananteed a lovely welcome, staff are freindly and lots of banter. The selection of food never seems to amaze me, and good value for money.

This hotel is as close to the centre of Biggar as you could want. The attitude of all the staff was excellent as were the meals that we enjoyed. The hotel decor was tired but this was clearly being addressed by the owners as ongoing work showed. The room was spacious and the ensuite excellent. With the right staff and a... More

My family and I were staying for one night at the Eliphinstone Hotel while attending a wedding. We enjoyed our stay but the hotel entrance is a bit shabby and could do with updating and a touch of paint, the bedrooms were functional and clean and the breakfast fine. I was a bit surprised when I asked what I could... More
