Much nicer on the inside than it looks! Room was modern, clean and comfortable. Nice touch of chocolates on the bed! Breakfast was lovely we had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and a "Thorlee" stack of potato scone, bacon, black pudding and egg - both delicious. Would recommend if staying in Stornoway and they take dogs!

I am not sure what to make of the Thorlee, it as a bit of an oddity. It is a "Guest House" like no other I have visited. There are no owners who stay there, they leave your key in an envelope in the hallway but if you happen to arrive when the outer door is locked then you are... More

We stayed here for four nights in July while attending the Hebridean Celtic Festival. We had a large twin room with ensuite bathroom, which, though it faced onto a road was quite quiet, so good night sleep was not a problem. Both the room and the bathroom could have been cleaned to a higher standard. We were a little disappointed... More

Perfectly decent place - we had a good large light room with nice high ceilings and it's a food central location in Stornoway. Breakfast was in a slight 1970s diner timewarp, but otherwise ok. Main problem for us was the noise of the room - it is directly over the main harbour road and despite double glazing the room was... More

Most overpriced uncomfortable room we've stayed in. For £85 per night we did not expect what we got. No basics like shower wash, the heating was turned off until evening, the room smelled badly of the cooking fat from the cafe downstairs all day, we had to keep the extractor fan on in the bathroom constantly to try and get... Looked a bit dodgy from the outside but inside the rooms were beautiful large and bright with a lovely view over the harbour and five star faciities such asa flat screen telly and a dock for your ipod. Lovely soft towels and chockolates on arrival was a nice touch. The host was the spitting image of Rene from Allo Allo... More

Pleasant guest house right on the harbour front above a coffee shop. The coffee shop also doubles as your breakfast room in the morning. On arrival your keys are left in an envelope in the hallway. There is a small camera on the reception desk to monitor people going in and out. Room was nicely finished and en suite. Nice... More

Just spent a week in the thorlee with work. I see alot of hotels and b&b's and this ranks up there with the best ive stayed. great location 2 minute walk from the ferry port and ample free parking just over the road. The outside could do with a lick of paint but with such a close seafront location it... More

A grand effort at renovation of a clearly aging structure, the location and friendly welcome made up for all slight drawbacks at this B & B. We had a wonderful view of the harbor from our room and the pleasant furnishings and excellent bathroom helped us completely ignore the sloped floor and collapsed chair legs. Very nice, right across the... More

Restaurant staff especially Erica were very friendly and extremely helpful.Booked two rooms for a family visit and also business trip.1 room facing the port was very roomy, sadly I got the one facing the rear of guest house which was not so good. But overall an enjoyable stay.Clean with good en suite facilities.Good base for touring the surrounding country side.
