Visited this hotel for a two night break on 17th May. The hotel sits on a great location overlooking the bay, busy with ferries and yachts passing to and fro. This is tired old hotel which is in the process of being renovated. The first room we were given was dreadful, stained carpets and wallpaper peeling of the ceiling, also had a few strips... More

From the outside this Hotel looks impressive, spectacular views that take your breath away on a charming island. Inside takes you down hill rapidly. Its tiered and run down with doors much in need of a lick of paint. It has a large open empty lounge but its lacking warmth and invitation. The bathroom in the room was very old... More

Stayed at the Glenburn on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th May and it was a Soul and Mowtown Cabaret Weekend. It was really fantastic. Both nights the entertainment was excellent and could not fault it in any way. Our dinning waiter Paul was great and very attentive and nothing was a problem. The food again was great and a good... Had a 2 night weekend break here in May. Very, very disappointed. Hotel is in a good location and if you pay extra (as we did) you can have a sea view. However, hotel itself is badly in need of renovation. It seems to base it's reputation on being a "genuine Victorian" hotel and if you stand far enough back... More

Thank you very much for posting your review on our site and for giving me the opportunity to respond to your comments. We don't base any reputation on being genuine Victorian, our reputation is gained by the very positive reviews many of our guests give us. The front steps you mention had only just been damaged by one of the... More

Just returned from 5 day break with Shearings. Wonderful view from bedroom which was a little dated but clean as was bathroom. Hot water on short supply! As previous reviewers says brighter bulbs in bedside lights would help!. Food was good for the price but some of the waitresses needed more training. The young men were very obliging. The entertainment... More

Just spent four nights at the Glenburn Hotel on a trip with Shearings Coaches and was very impressed with the hotel for the price we paid. The food was extremely good and the cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. All the staff were efficient and very pleasant. We were treated to Gary singing each evening and introducing the films in... More

Many thanks for the great review you posted on the hotel's Tripadvisor site, it's good to see you enjoyed your break although I'm sorry that you felt there was not much to do on the island. There are a great many places of interest, such as the Discovery Centre, Mount Stuart House the Castle and the Museum. There's the Fernery,... More

Just returned from 2 nights here, took elderly parents and it was super for them. It is very "tired" in some areas but as others have said very clean.Food was good value and served quickly. The views are stunningbut I was disappointed by the dirty windows throughout, was tempted to buy some Windolene! Overall still great value for money and probably... More

This was our second stay at the Glenburn and yet again we had a fantastic time. Our party was 3 adults and 3 children aged 6 to 8. The food was great value for money especially the breakfasts. Service in the dining room was also great, especially Kristoff who went out his way to make the children happy. Yes the... More

Four of us [2 couples] have just had a three night break here...and the title of this review says it all! It was on the face of it a brilliant break for the cost with really good food and very nice staff. There was a special cabaret on Saturday night with a tribute to Lulu - the singer was really... Just returned from a Shearings 5 day entertainment break, the hotel, food and staff were really good, everwhere was clean and tidy, its best to upgrade your room too. What failed was the so called entertainment side of the trip. Monday featured a singer, Margaret Zavaroni, what an an utter waste of time. Gary the resident entertainer tried really hard... More
