Popped in while exploring the south of the island back in March and so glad we did. Warm and friendly, the butternut squash soup and langoustines were a delight. Would definitely recommend to anyone passing this way. Really helped make our trip to Bute.

We drove past this pub whilst looking for something to do on the Isle of Bute. 2 adults and 2 children, hungry, tired and in need of a pick me up. Oh boy what a meal! I ordered the 10oz Rib Eye steak and can safely say it is one of the best meals i have had in years!!! Steak... More

This hotel is more of a country bar and restaurant than a hotel. The Isle of Bute is a lovely natural island with many beautiful beaches and the fabulous Mount Stuart which is a must-see. The journey is best via Loch Lomond as the more direct route from the West is through major very busy roads and not much fun.... More

Stayed for one night on Monday the 25th. february 2013. First impression outside was of a nice homely country hotel. Was made very welcome. Rooms were warm, spotless well furnished with large ensuite. Comfy beds and plently of room to spread about, TV, tea/coffee etc. Dinner of venison with all the trimmings was very good, as was the starter. Very... More

My friends and I booked the Kingarth for an impromptu dinner. We were lucky enough to book a table on a busy Saturday night. We were served by Kevin who was very friendly and polite. The freshly baked bread with oil and vinegar was a nice touch as an appetiser. Everyone enjoyed their starters, I had the garlic mushrooms which... More

My wife and I had a fantastic meal and evening here on the 31st December 2012. Thanks to Maria, Simon and all the staff. We also ate here the next day and thoroughly enjoyed that too. We regularly eat out in the Glasgow area and the quality was the equal of anything we have had in the last few years.

Without doubt, this establishment serves the best food on Bute. It is offered up without pretension and the menu changes by the day. The place has a cosy feel to in winter and in summer, al fresco dining or bar-mealing can be done on the rather nice outdoor, covered deck. Portions it has to be said are on the generous... More

Went to the Kingarth Hotel last Sunday afternoon to sample their latest "guest" Real Ale and I was delighted to find it was Youngs! As a London girl, I have great memories of both Young's and Fuller's beers and pubs so it took me back.... Also a great atmostphere for a lazy Sunday afternoon pint, or 2! Do pop in,... More

We stopped here on our tour of the Island intending to have a snack for lunch. Once we saw the menu though we couldn't resist and my husband managed a three course meal. I managed 2 courses and was finally defeated by the best ploughmans I have had in a long time. The member of staff was friendly and the... More

Ate here again, this time with seven colleagues. The food is good and there is a nice ambiance. There was only one staff member on so service was not the fastest but we were not in a hurry so this was not a problem. We started ordering at about 1pm and were finished after 3pm. What was eaten? Mussels in... More
