We have now stayed at The Inn at Penallt three times (once with our dog, who was made as welcome as we were!), the last being the week of our son's wedding at the enchanting Old Church in Penallt. We could not have been better cared for. As always in the run up to a wedding moments of concern, if... More

A hidden gem! We have just returned from a two-night stay at The Inn at Penallt. From their good website we knew to expect good accommodation and food, but our expectations were surpassed by what we got. We received a very warm welcome from the owners, Andrew and Jackie, and spent our first afternoon chatting to our friends in the... More

Thank you to Andy and Jackie for the splendid welcome, great food and clean, fresh accommodation. Our dog was made very welcome in the bar and there was easy access out on to the lovely garden. Andy was quick to help us plan our walking and stepped in to help when we were let down with our following night's accomodation.... More

Pros: - Exceptionally friendly owners - The location and the views are stunning - The breakfast is second to none - The rooms are clean and tidy and have everything you'd need. So why am I only giving it 3/5?... We stayed in room 4, which is joined to room 3 in the "outer building" which is detached from the... More

Stayed at the Inn with my partner and 10 year old. We arrived in horrid snow and after a 7 hr journey were tired, hungry and cold. The welcome we received was above and beyond. Shown to a table reserved for us by the fire while the owner Andy quickly got us a drink and settled us in. Dinner was... More

We stayed at The Inn at Penallt this weekend. We were a group of 5 who were in the area for a friends wedding. We had the most perfect stay and are already deciding when to return! The Inn at Penallt is beautiful, in a great location with stunning views. It is immaculately clean, and serves amazing food. But most... More

We have just returned from a weekend at the Inn and are already planning our return. When we arrived we received a warm welcome and were shown to our room in the annex. It was room 3 and had a gorgeous view and everything we needed. We were staying with friends and attending a wedding reception nearby, Andy could not... More

This was a great discovery for our midweek walking break. The Inn at Penallt has a lovely position above the Wye Valley, overlooking glorious rolling countryside, with far-reaching views from th garden. Our room (No 3, in the annexe) was cosy and comfortable, and plenty big enough for us and for Owen the dog. The welcome at the inn is... More

Without doubt one of the best country pubs in the whole of South Wales! The hosts, Andy and Jackie, were so very welcoming. Roaring log fires, stone floors, and a sunny conservatory. OK the room was a little on the small side, but spotlessly clean, and superbly equipped with kettle, sparkling and still water, Welsh cakes in a little Kilner... More
