Gareth welcomed us gently. The B&B is easy to find with a convenient private and large car park. The house is large and old with good maintenance. Room is clean, well equipped, tea and coffe faicilties, cakes, .... the beds are old but comfortable. The bathroom is small but with the whole necessary. Gareth cooked a full welsh breakfast well... Lovely welcome on arrival, nice big room overlooking the garden. Tea and coffee, shower, TV etc. Friendly owner who grew up in the house. Very close to centre of Machynlleth so a short walk. We stayed here to be close to Ynis Hir and The Dyfi Osprey Project. Would come back again and stay here.

I needed a couple of nights accommodation in Machynlleth while I was there for a meeting. Given that it was midwinter, some places were closed, but Maenllwyd was open and available. A quick phone call was all it took to book, and even though it was a weekend, there was only one other person there for one night, so it... More

We stayed here for 2 nights, Fri & Sat. Without doubt the hosts make this place what it is. Gareth & Jane were so welcoming. They really went out of their way to look after us, so much so that Gareth interupted his evening tasks to show us where we could eat out on the evening by personally taking us... More

Stayed here in Sept for a family wedding. We had a warm welcome from Gareth and we booked in early (11am) as we needed shower etc, this was no problem even though normal checking-in is 4pm onwards. Room seemed to be recently decorated (Room7) and had bath & shower!! We were informed that free wi-fi available if we needed but... More

Had to stay somewhere that would take dogs, which this guesthouse did. However on arrival I was struggling with two bags and a puppy. The owner did take my bags for me, but only once he was most of the way up one flight of stairs - it would have been nice if it had been automatic! That aside, he... More

When we arrived at 4.00 pm owners not around, but didn't have to wait long and Gareth apologised for not being there. Stayed here for one night whilst travelling onwards. Room and breakfast was ok but nothing to shout about. Host friendly. Some of the furniture was a little shabby along with bathroom. The downside was the shower curtain which... More

Great place, great people. Doing solo cycling trip and arrived very tired. Room very nice, garage for the bike. Asked if I could borrow some pegs to hang my kit up once I'd hand washed it and it was put through the washing machine and tumble dryer and delivered back to me. Helpfully pointed me in the direction of good... More

Machynlleth is not the most well known spot in Welsh tourism but it has lots to offer and the Maenllwyd b and b is a jewel in the crown. Located on the upper end of the main street, it's handy and accessible and has secure rear parking. Our twin bedded room was smallish and well appointed but the breakfast was... More

We stayed here for a night in May. Stayed in room 5 with lovely character beams. Warm welcome and a hearty breakfast! Ample parking and only a five minute walk to town centre. Would definitely recommend to others.
