Booked a table for 7pm as a surprise for my partners birthday as we were staying in the West Usk Lighthouse just up the road (also highly recommended). As it was mid week the restaurant was quiet so we had a lovely cosy table which was perfect, Music played in the background giving a lovely intimate relaxed atmosphere. The service... More

One of the nicest dining experiences we have had for a long time, all the better for being completely unplanned. Returning from a visit to the Newport Wetlands we opted to travel home to the Vale of Glamorgan via the coastal road, a route we had not been on for many years. Stopping for lunch at the Elm Tree we... More

I took my parents out for a meal and was unsure where to go, I wanted to take them somewhere other than just a 'chain' restaurant. I looked online where to go and it brought me to reviews on Trip Advisor. I was so pleased that we decided to go there as the food was really out of this world... More

I stayed at the Elm Tree in February and March while I was working in Newport. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. The desk in the rooms and the free WiFi allowed me to work from the Inn when I had to. The restaurant offers a nice menu and there are "Day Specials" on a chalkboard. Being French,... More

My wife and I ( mr and mrs Butterflies) stumbled across this little gem. From the outside you are greeted by this well looked after stylish looking inn. We only wanted a drink but once inside and seeing the warm atmosphere and friendly staff we were drawn into ordering from a fantastic choice on the menu at good prices. Our... More

Stayed for 1 night in February so not a lengthy stay at the hotel but the stay was a predominently positive experience. The hotel represented good value for money, the room I stayed in was quaintly decorated (rocking chair, wooden 4 poster, blanket box etc.) and had the usual features of a £60 room with tea/coffee facilities, tv etc. The... I live in Cardiff and early last year 2012 we came across this hotel and restaurant by chance while driving. We stopped and decided to have an evening meal. So glad we did as the starters, mains and desert was by far the best I have had for a very long time. As a couple between us we are well... More
