We have stayed at this particular KOA three times in the last year. Once on the river in the little rustic one bedroom cabin (which was actually my favorite), twice in the deluxe cabins near the pool. The deluxe cabins have TV, bath with shower, small fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and even bodywash and shampoo. We are the dreaded Harley Davidson... More

I first went to this campground/RV/cabin KOA site when I was 15 and loved it. I went back the first time last year (12 years later) and wasn't sure how I'd feel about it this time. However, I think overall it is still a great place stay. We camped in a tent right on the river which was absolutely beautiful.... More

Stayed at a Townsend KOA cabin during the week after Labor Day. The cabin was right on the creek which was beautiful. We were pretty close to the road, but weren't bothered by most of the traffic. We could hear the motorcycles though...and there were quite a few. Most of the cabins were empty during our stay, so it was... More

The Good: Nice and helpful staff Clean bathrooms Clean campground Clean cabins Pet run Plenty of activities for children The Bad: In trying to keep the campground natural, parking can be difficult with all the trees. However, if you are careful you won't hit the trees. Just take your time and don't be in a hurry. Some people tend to... More

The good: We have camped with Townsend KOA for many years now, dating back to when it was Little River Campground. Though the prices have steadily increased, we still love camping there, knowing the only germs we are sharing belong to our family! lol Though we liked Tremont, if you want to stay on the river to hear splashing water... If you like a non-commercialized Smokey Mountains experience this is the place! Very quiet area, woodsy, right on the river for kids to play in the rocks. Nice playground, clean bath house, friendly staff.

My wife and I love camping. So we wanted to introduce our 3.5 year old and 5 yearr old girls to the experience. This place was awesome from start to finish. Very clean campground with extremely clean bathouses. There were also portable toilets placed throughout campground and these things were extremely clean. The playground, pool and arcade were awsome for... More

In early August three of my camping buddies and I spent three nights in Lodge Two in this KOA. We are all over 45. We chose the campground because of its easy access Cades Cove and other parts of the western side of the GSMNP. We had a great view of the river from our deck. We watched tubers float... More

Our cabin was spotless. It looked new and probably was. Nice patio and fire ring for camp fire and the pool was clean and close. Not much to look at as far as scenery within the campground where we were located, but there are some water front sites. I enjoyed walking around as most of the place is nicely shaded... More

Last year we stayed in Gatlinburg at a hotel. It was too busy for me. Our balconly overlooked the river which I really liked, but right across the river were Condo's. Here at the Townsend KOA, we stayed in a "Kozy Kabin", it was right on the river with a swing on the porch. There were trees across the river... More
