We traveled in a fifth-wheel. The pull-through spots, picnic tables, and helpful staff made it very easy for us. Unless you want to be closer to town, I cannot imagine staying anywhere else.

We were tent camping. The facilities themselves (restrooms, showers) were good and clean. The location at the corner of the main highway and the road to Luckenbach, coupled with the lack of trees, made for very noisy and windy nights. We stayed at a cabin at the KOA campground about 5-6 miles out of Fredericksburg, and found it clean and just as described on their website. Almost all hotels in Fredericksburg were booked for that weekend, and the only ones I could find were $130 or more (+ tax), and we weren't going to be in a room very much.... More
