Business recently took me to Marathon, TX and I was dismayed by the lack of motels without the words "Motor Court" somewhere in the name. I stumbled on the Gage Hotel and was delighted to find such an oasis in the vast desert of blah that comprises this area. (Let me say here, had I been there to hike in...

Outstanding, beautiful hotel. The birds in the courtyard outside the Los Portales rooms woke us in the morning. Comfortable room with great amenities. Convenient--relatively speaking--to Big Bend National Park.
Hotel moved us to a cabin as air conditioning in Gage room was not working. Cottage was out of the west. Clean, cool, and really interesting. Food was very good and bar was hopping with friendly people.
The Gage Hotel was perfect for our stay. The rooms were attractive and comfortable, the courtyard is beautiful and the staff is there to help in any way possible. This historic hotel is one you should visit if you are in Marathon.

The...

We stayed at the Gage for two nights at the beginning of a week long tour through west Texas. we had heard wonderful things about this old hotel for many years- virtually in the middle of nowhere ( sorry Marathon – I’m from New York) - and it didn’t disappoint. We stayed in one of the rooms out in the...

Outstanding option to stay near Big Bend National Park, particularly after a week on the road. Very nice accommodations with a true Western feel. Stayed in rooms on the 2nd floor of the main hotel, nicely arranged and functional. *Great* courtyards with pool and restaurant --- wonderful way to spend an afternoon/evening after long drives in the area. Friendly and...

Excellent welcome, very old west, but so classy. In a tiny town. Has a good bar and resturant. Room was decked out in Western style, very comfy. Neat Courtyard. Will go again I hope.
We visited the Gage Hotel with a group of 22 members of a Houston car club, which was taking advantage of the wonderful driving roads around Marathon and in the Big Bend National Park. Our group was lodged in the adobe buildings surrounding a center court. Each room and the courtyard are furnished with authentic and in many cases antique...
