The location and building are nice and have a historical feel. The staff are polite, but seem to just miss the mark on being positive about the hotel. The rooms although small are appointed nicely with Marriott level furniture. The internet service is very slow wired and wireless were the same speed and not capable of video conferencing or streaming... More

The Renaissance in McAllen is a very nice property. It is located near what seems to be old downtown McAllen. Contrary to some of the other reviews of this property, I do not find the surrounding area to be that bad. The hotel itself is pleasant. The room is charming, one of the walls is actually brick. There is a... More

After reading some of the reviews, I was concerned about staying at this hotel, however I found the property to be architecturally interesting and I enjoyed having a top-floor room overlooking the courtyard and pool. I have to comment that I really don’t understand the decision for the lobby colors – teal and pink– either it hasn’t been updated since... More

What a nice place. You should stay here. This is an artfully restored and well-cared for hotel. Attentive and friendly staff. Comfortable hotel lobby with bar for socializing or grabbing a nightcap. Convenient restaurant with typically pricey but satisfactory breakfast and dinner if you really don’t care to venture out to some of the very close meal options. Our second... More

This is an older property with plenty of charm and character. It is close to the airport and a short drive to some nice restaurants. Nice room layout with a comfortable and clean bed. I asked for a quiet room and there was still some ambient noise from the lobby, other patrons, and the nearby train tracks. A good place... More

Thank you for the positive comments. Noise is always something we attempt to reduce, regardless of the source. We all need our sleep and we at Renaissance are glad you had a pleasant visit. Come back soon. Sandy Arnold More

The Renaissance Casa de Palmas belongs to the Marriot chain, but is a little bit different to other chain hotels. It has been renovated in Spanish style, with a inner courtyard and a very nice lobby. The rooms are clean and not too small. I slept very well in a very comfortable bed. The internet access was a little bit... More

I grew up and McAllen and have seen this hotel change a few times it wasn't until this past weekend I got to enjoy it. It's clean and has everything you may need, chargers, ipod dock, Hair dryer, iron etc. I was a bit disappointed I could not watch my shows on E! Or MTV any girly show/channels. I brought... More

This hotel is certainly the top of the line. I have spent the last 18 months traveling to this hotel on a weekly basis. The service and staff is second to none. I was always treated like family but then again they probably saw me as much as their own families. The only issue at this hotel I ever had... More

This hotel was great and the staff was super nice. The hotel treated its guests like royalty. Many of the rooms have balconies that overlook the courtyard pool. From what I gathered, this hotel is a great location for weddings. The landscaping is quite beautiful and the breeze blowing through the palm trees was so relaxing. I stayed for business... More

I stayed at the Renaissance in McAllen, Texas, from December 5 to December 9, 2011. I travel to McAllen frequently and have often stayed at the Renaissance given its convenience and location. After my last visit, I do not intend to ever stay at the Renaissance again. The first room had a massive ant infestation and the closet doors were... More
