If you play tennis and are looking to improve your game, a weekend at Newk's is a great idea (especially if you live only a half hour away). The crew there works hard to make your stay fun on many levels. First, obviously, is the tennis and the pros are first-rate and friendly, eager to help you with your game.... More

I recently returned to the Ohio winter from a two week escape in Texas. The middle weekend (March 1-3, 2013) I participated in the adult clinic at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels, and I have to say it was excellent! It started with a social hit and dinner on Friday eve, with 7 hours of instruction, drill,... More

The individual attention to instruction and the litany of excellent tennis drills make this an excellent camp for those who wish to improve their game. Be prepared to exercise and work on your skills. This is not country club tennis. The food is very good and the price is great for what you get. The staff is friendly and encouraging.... More

We live in Texas so we tried this place. It's okay but not great. It seems dated and worn out and the clay courts, one of the reasons we went, are indistinguishable from the hard courts. However, the staff is good, the instruction was good, and the play they arranged for us was fun.

Dear Ward W. Thank you for your recent feedback regarding the Ranch. We are definitely “Texas Ranch” style and do not compete with Florida or South Carolina in terms of either image or price. Our clay courts are dirt and hard-courts are cement. We appreciate your constructive criticism. More

I stayed at the Newcombe ranch over New Years (Dec 2010-Jan 2011). I was very impressed with the quality of instruction and the amount of attention. We had 9 adults and 3 pros. The food was good and very plentiful. The ranch grounds were well kept. The only negative was the accomodations. I had a courtside room. Although you don't... More

Stayed in a two bedroom condo with my junior tennis player while they were attending a weekly tennis program. Switched units because the first one had food and debris in the silverware drawer and garbage in one of the kitchen cabinets. Second unit had a clean silverware drawer but after we unpacked, noticed the very stained carpet, grimy phone, sliding... More
