Excellent, friendly, engaging staff (even promptly answers phone in the middle of the night) - including friendly, efficient housekeeping. By the highway but still quiet in our room. I stayed two nights at the Howard Johnson in San Marcos. I have stayed at several other motels but for the price and convenience, I highly recommend this Howard Johnsons.
