I love the Middlebury Inn. It is like stepping back into the 19th century. While I would not say it is one of the most modern hotels I have visited, it is a true Vermont experience. However, I would only get a room in the main inn building. The rooms in the newly built area resemble a motor inn!

Unexpected daughter's team win found us needing a reservation. Used Tripadvisor to locate and found this old and historic inn. We found the building well maintained, and the help were outstanding. The inn clean and atmosphere pleasant. We stayed in the main building and the team in more modern grounds hotel buildings. The room was a little pricey, but I... More

There's no doubt the Middlebury Inn is an iconic building but it could use a major restoration to bring it up to luxury standards. That is, assuming there's a market for such a hotel in Middlebury, VT. The dining room and included breakfast is a bit rough and while the service staff are good people, there's no service culture in... More

Middlebury is a very lovely town in Vermont. We stayed at the Middlebury Inn because we have two dogs and they allow dogs for an extra $25 pet fee. It's well worth it. It's centrally located, and within walking distance to everything in town. Breakfast is not included in the price, which we thought was a shame, so we had... More

We stayed for two night at the Inn, and found it very attractive and welcoming. It is in-town, and the room we stayed in was really lovely (Room 111) - spacious, large king bed, and all the amenities. Hairdryer, toiletries, good wifi and TV, great shower, etc. Early morning coffee and tea available in the lobby before breakfast opened, and... More

'A breath of fresh air". That's how I feel about some of our Trip Advisor reviews and for this I thank you. You certainly captured what I like to think are our finest attributes. And you took advantage of much that we had to offer - I only wish you could have enjoyed breakfast out on our veranda as our... More

Just got back from two nights at the Inn. Stayed on the second floor. I realize the Inn has nothing to do with the local church, but.....be prepared to hear it's bells chiming loudly Every hour on the hour!!!!! All day and all night long!!! It got tiresome. Not to mention it was hard to sleep.......The room was nicely furnished,... More

Ah yes, those annoying church bells. Fortunately only a couple of rooms are within easy earshot, but if you're a light sleeper.....However, you have to admit, it's a beautiful church that shares our view over the town green. I won't criticize your comment on the amenity selection - that's a source of much debate in the industry, but we feel... More

The Inn was historic and beautiful, but the motel-style buildings in the back without windows were a bit surprising and brought down the caliber of the Inn. It is also located on a very busy intersection and we were unable to sleep due to constant traffic noise all night long. Not exactly the quaint VT escape we had in mind... More

As always, i appreciate any and all feedback, especially concerning less than exceptional customer service. As managers, often there is not much we can do about traffic noise, architectural features or all night church bells, but service is our primary business and without customer comments we are blind to much of what happens day to day. I discussed your situation... More

This is my second time staying there but third time booked. I stayed once last spring. Then I was booked the weekend of Hurricane Sandy and actually drove there only to ask if I could reschedule as I was worried about my home. They very graciously allowed me to reschedule until April and gave me all I had originally prepaid.... More

All these nice comments from New Jersey (actually I'm from NJ as well). I couldn't have made a better pitch for all of the reasons to stay here, including the 100 year old elevator, which, by the way, we're happy to operate at any time. We remember the Sandy weekend and you were right to get back home - I... More

Everything you'd want in an historic inn... except for no food on Monday and Tuesday evenings. I get that they may not have much traffic, but we booked in while floor work was done and, especially for h/c, even a tureen of soup, crackers, and salad would have been better than loading my power chair in 28º weather, hobbling from... I wish we could have accommodated you in our restaurant on Monday or Tuesday, but off season in Vermont is quite often the nights that dining hours are restricted. We will open seven days in another two months for our busier season - strictly a business decision, but I realize now, a terrible inconvenience for you. My apologies - if... More
