If you're looking for a place to stay in southern Vermont without spending a fortune, I'd recommend the Putney Inn. It's within close proximity to many beautiful village towns. Breakfast is included and the people at the front desk are extremely friendly and accommodating. Room service staff/housekeeping is adequate. However, the rooms are in need of renovation and somewhat outdated.... More

This was a wonderful spot for a large extended family gathering for a memorial service nearby. Dog and children friendly and very kind, caring service for all. The complimentary breakfasts, Vermont full, or my favorite, oatmeal with maple syrup and almonds, got us off to a good start every morning. The warm and welcoming staff make up for any shortcomings.... More

We have stayed her over the years many times but this time will be our last time. The service was awful and the place has went downhill over the last few years. Even the breakfast is not as good as it used to be, it is pretty blah now. You can do better if you go a few more miles... More

My husband and I ended up at the Putney Inn for one evening after accidentally booking the wrong night at a nearby b&b. Although we were planning on the traditional b&b experience, Putney Inn was a fine choice for one night. Know this in advance and you won't be disappointed: this is not a traditional b&b. The two-story building with... More

The Putney Inn is not terrible, but their sales rhetoric far oversells the charms of the actual establishment. It's a fair-to-middlin' highway motel with slightly better than average food. The website claims that the rooms are furnished with "a tone of cultured Vermont charm." In reality, they smell moldy, the decor is more "outdated" than "antique" (heavy on the dusty... More

I was here a couple of weekends ago for an event and stayed Friday night through Sunday. The Inn is incredibly easy to find -- it really is right off I-91 and Route 5. The check-in was quick and easy -- Randi, the proprietress is very nice and friendly. The rooms are in a separate building across the parking lot... More

We were headed towards Killington for a New Year's Eve vacation and ran into some serious car trouble. We pulled off 91 and rolled into The Putney Inn parking lot. After declaring the battery to be dead, I jetted inside to leave the boys to figure out the car problem for themselves. This was probably the best road side stop... More

We woke up here on Christmas morning. As a nice touch, the staff had arranged for us to open the door to a beautiful snow. The rooms are behind the restaurant, which is a made-over house, and are of average quality - smallish but clean. But the night's lodging included a big farmhouse breakfast w eggs and hash browns and... More

I had a wonderful experience at the Putney Inn last weekend. The Putney Inn is a picturesque rural Inn with character, comfort, beauty, and enchantment. The food was delicious and the rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable. The manager, Randy, and her staff were exceedingly gracious and accommodating. I especially appreciate how welcoming and patient they were with our children.... More

The noise from the adjacent freeway I91 made sleep impossible with the AC unit off. I felt like I was under a runway approach. With a second night to spend there with my group, I expressed my dismay to the innkeeper who had no sympathy and only after our group leader interceded was I moved to another room further back...
