We visited in Feb 2012 and the trip was for my birthday. It is fair to say that this resort provided a home amidst the hills and by the mighty Ganges. Accommodation: very cosy and tasteful cottages overlooking the river or the forest. You are always aware of the power of the mighty river that was flowing few metres away... More

The Himalayan Hideaway is a wonderfully tranquil hotel overlooking the lower Himalayas and the swirling waters of the mighty Ganges. The accomodation is neat, clean and comfortable. The staff is very polite and ever eager to please. Sitting out on the patio enjoying breakfast in the crisp morning air or sitting out by a bonfire having dinner are memorable and... More

If you are travelling with young children or elderly (or anyone who is unable to negotiate steep mountenous steps) this is NOT the place for you. Positives first. i) The property has an excellent location, great view of the lush green mountains, tranquility of the shivalik range, soothing sound of the Ganga in your ears.. well really nice. ii) The... The Himalayan Hideaway is advertised as a 10 room Lodge 19kms from Rishikesh. It is located on a sloping hill and the 10 rooms are distributed in 2 units each of 4rooms and 2 rooms that are "stand alone". It is rustic and charming in character. At the time of booking we make the guest aware that there are no... More

Five of us went there in january and totally enjoyed this beautiful place. With little spots here and there to meditate or read a book , having the Ganga and the forest all to yourself. The food was the best we ever had. The cook even spoilt us with treats that he knew we liked. We had Ayurvedic massage at... More

We stayed 2 nights here and enjoyed our stay. The service was good and we didn't face any problems. There is electronic kettle and tea bags in your room which makes it very comfortable. The rooms were clean and the food served was also good. All in all a good place if you are ready to spend a little extra... More

The Himalayan Hideaway is 19 kms upstream of Rishikesh on the Devprayag / Badrinath road. And it is advertised as such. We call it a 10 room Lodge with all the amentities one requires i.e. a clean comfortable room with attached bathrooms and hot and cold water. The rooms are airconditioned in summer and heated in winter. As some of... More

The drive from Rishikesh to Himalayan Hideaway was a challenge because of the mountainous roads' being in terrible shape. Road work was going on around the clock. Then, upon arrival at the Hideaway, we discovered we were assigned to the bottom cottage accessed by hiking down uneven stone steps. Navigating these with our hands full of purses, etc. was rough.... Myself and my family (read wife and an 8 year old son) visited Rishikesh from 26th – 29th December 2010. We were put up at Himalayan Hideaway for 2 nights and at their base camp for one night, and all I can say about the experience - it was supernal. We were nestled in the serenity of nature (at the... The property is pretty. The management's attitude however is exactly the opposite. While the working staff is well trained and courteous, the management could learn a thing or two about customer service. At the time of check-out, we were presented with unreasonable rates that were not clearly mentioned at the time of providing these services. When we confronted the management... More

The Himalayan hideaway is NOT in Rishikesh...it must be some 15 kilometres up the Ganges canyon along a road recently made very difficult by monsoon flooding. But it's worth the trip. The location is maybe some 50 metres above the Ganges on the side of the gorge...you can't see the river from the hotel because of the trees but you... More
