We stayed here for two nights. Originally, we booked for one night, but were so taken with this oasis that we stayed for two. Our cabana was super clean, and I loved the outside shower. The dinner and lunch menus were super affordable, plus they had great options for vegetarians. With the hotel amenities out of the way, let me... More

We visited San Simeon for 3 nights in March 2013 - it was everything we hoped for and more. After 3 days in Granada, it was a delight to find peace and tranquility at San Simeon. As a family of 4 we had two side by side cabanas close to the lake. They are simple but elegant and clean -... More

San Simian is an amazing place. The rooms are great, The bathroom/showers are what you travel abroad for. The Lake is perfect with plenty of ways to enjoy and explore. There are not the crowds or ruckus of other resorts and Daniel is making sure it runs smoothly. While getting there from Granada is a bit of a ride, Daniel... More

We do live in Granada and decided spending two days at San Simian to relax and get away from work. It was just perfect. We had a very nice and clean bungalow just some steps away from the cristal clear water. The food was very good. Like eating at home. Howler monkeys and birds gave us an early wake up... More

We spent the last 3 nights of our vacation at San Simian. It is quiet and peaceful-a great place to end our time in Nicaragua. Daniel and his staff were wonderful, the accomodations were fabulous (best mattress ever) and the laguna was heaven. We took a trip into Masaya to go to the markets, using a taxi driver (very cheerful... More

I have been coming to San Simian with my wife for the past two years and it has only gotten better every time. This time, we went with another couple and had such a fantastic trip, I felt compelled to write a review. The food was so insanely good that after every meal we had, we considered ordering another plate... More

This is our second year in a row staying at San Simian. We ahve been coming to Nicaragua for about 10 years and love the magic of the Laguna. The San Simian Property is well maintained and the owner puts his heart and sole into making each visitor feel welcome. Daniel (the owner) can arrange reliable transportation to San Simian... More

My wife and I stayed in the cabanas for 6 nights. They are well constructed with screened ventilation and outdoor showers. Mosquito netting is provided but we never needed them. The staff were very cheerful and friendly, they changed the bedding and towels every day. Daniel the owner was very helpful answering questions and making recommendations . The food is... More

This lodge has a bit of a resort feel to it. There are separate cabanas that you stay in so you're not connected to anyone which is nice for it being quiet. We stayed in Pataya which has a queen bed. It is just behind the bar area about halfway down to the lake. The bar closes early (8pm) so... More

I stayed for 4 nights, once as a stop-over on the way to Isla de Ometepe, and again at the end of my stay before flying home. It is a testimony to how friendly the owner Daniel is, and to the peaceful setting, that I was looking forward to going back at the end of the week, and had that... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
San Simian is a charming Eco Lodge in the Laguna de Apoyo Dry Forest Preserve. Nestled along the water's edge, this secluded resort has private unique lodging tucked into the slope of the crater and steps from the swimming dock, hammocks and bar where guests pass the time. Guests can stay in a unique palm-roofed cottage with open air shower, private garden or terrace, eat at our full service restaurant and relax at our outdoor bar. As San Simian is equipped with a Catamaran, several Kayaks, a Rowboat and other water toys, activity revolves at the lake front and in the clear warm water itself, however, bird and monkey watching in the surrounding forest are also popular, and we are also located at the entrance to a great hike path that leads up the hill to the Pueblas Blancas artisan villages and the stunning Mirador at Catarina. Please Call Ahead if you would like us to arrange a massage, pedicure, Spanish lesson, guided hike, Granada or Masaya tour. ... more   less
