The staff were very good, rooms good but not exceptional. Food was very disappointing to say the least. There were three themed restaurants. The Italian was so poor that I would have thrown it back in a restaurant. Japenese restaurant was uncomfortable with equally poor food. Maderian was reasonable. In the main restaurant the Buffet was plentiful, cold was good,... More

We stayed here for five nights as part of a Ramblers Holiday. The situation is lovely and all rooms face the beach. Our room was huge but there was very little space for storing clothes and as we were there for so long we wanted to unpack completely. Breakfast was actually very good but dinner seemed to lack imagination. There... More

This place hasn't quite got what it takes in spite of being (in theory) a 4 star hotel. It looks good with blonde wood floors and balconies in some rooms but lets itself down in multiple ways. Firstly, while there is a free computer in the lobby with a sporadic internet connection, there is no internet in the rooms and... More

We stayed for 7 nights. We got a very good deal which made the stay even more pleasant. Would recommend hire car if you are up for it - need to be a confident driver to navigate the bends and steep climbs across the island. The room was so spacious and everything very clean. We were all inclusive and, as... More

We booked this hotel at random, wanting to tour around Madeira, using the hotel as a base. The hotel was lovely, nestled in a valley of a small bay between two mountains. Room was spacious, clean and lovely, with balcony overlooking the sea. Food choice was very good-only complaint being that food temperature was consistently no-where near hot enough. Also... More

I booked a room with balcony in this hotel in January 2012. The room was incredibly spacious, clean and smartly decorated. The village of Ponta do Sol is a delight. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Ponta do Sol is a tiny sea-hugging village backed by sheer cliffs, so you feel snug and excluded from the rest of the world. Views are lovely - beach is pebbly but inviting. Sunsets spectacular. Its also surrounded by banana plantations. This island is awash with flowers, luscious fruits and is a total garden of eden. Botanist friends of mine... More

Just returned from another great stay. The hotel is immaculate, we were on the All inclusive Special which was great for our belly's and pockets. The food, staff, room and hotel overall was excellent. We will definetly be returning. Yes the beach is rocky but you have toremeber madeira is a volcanic island. If you want a golden sandy beach... Granted we had just come from a lovely hotel in funchal but the enotel in ponta do sol lacks personality & facilities. We had based our booking on a few features - proximity to the beach & promises of WiFi. The beach is right across the road & despite it being rocky there are wooden platforms for you to lie... More

We stayed here for 2 nights, and had 2 great diners in the restaurant across the street (grilled seafood and beef) with a great sunset. unfortunately they are working on the tunnels, so you do hear some work between 8 and 5pm but then we were of exploring the island by car. The sea is not very inviting for a... More
