The three generations of owners of the Alegre have maintained this hotel in top condition, and have maintained a delightful atmosphere with antique furnishings. Through a short cut beside the hotel it's a ten minute walk to an entrance to Busaco.

I had a car and chose this hotel for a quiet location to visit the surroundings like Bussaco, Coimbra, Conimbriga, etc. I was impressed by the charming building, with personality. Although old, room was very clean, large and comfortable, except for the tiny shower box. Breakfast was ok. A couple of small restaurants are close by.

The hotel is very impressive from the beginning: you see a towerning pink mansion on top of a hill as you approach the town centre from the motorway.
