Stayed at this quaint little place over the August bank holiday weekend. When we arrived we were greeted and made most welcome by a very pleasant young lady, who, as our room wasn't quite ready (we had arrived rather early) offered us a pot of freshly ground coffee and the chance to take the weight off our feet. Shortly after we... More

We (couple in our 50's) stayed here for 1 night. Upon arrival we were greeted at the desk by a lovely lady who was polite, helpful and with a lovely smile. The room we had was overlooking the lake, it was clean, tidy and very airey. I had read reviews about the filling of kettles and the lack of a... More

Swing Cottage is right across the road from Lake Hollingworth, and Lisa and John are great hosts! Other reviews have complained of it being "dirty"... we didn't find that to be true. We chose this B&B due to its award winning status on the web but having stayed I cannot imagine what the award could be for. On entering the small hallway with the well worn carpet and air of dust the lack of attention became apparent and this was continued throughout and into the rooms. The bed was very comfortable but... Stayed 2 nights Nov. 2009. Nice room overlooking the lake, quiet and relaxing. Highlight was the fantastic breakfast - order the 'light' version if you're not a big breakfast person!! Very friendly & pleasant staff. If you plan to sit in your room watching TV missing out on everything around you, try somewhere else (small TV, very few channels). Couldn't... More

We have been there twice now and are booking for our third visit this year. It is lovely quaint little b&b and the service is second to none. The breakfasts are huge and very filling. We have now made it a habit to stay there on our way to Liverpool airport and start our holiday a day early by fishing... More
